Does anyone know what they are as i don't think its worth paying too much for a extra 10 ps and better brakes as i don't really go fast on the streets etc.
-
I'm not sure the PP is worth a grand near enough too, for normal road driving.
The Bhp difference is laughable, and the brakes are also questionable on again normal road driving, but the diff may be the key difference. It would be worth seeing a road review before making the choice.
I may order without the pack, and then if we see reviews stating its worth it, add the option before build.

I think it'll be the LSD that'll sell the pack imo, as you say Dave the bhp is rediculous and the 0-62 decrease by .1 of a second is just daft although perhaps the torque will be the difference? Hmmm........
I'm hoping there is no aesthetic difference cos i don't really want to spend the money on the pack.
-
Not a fan of VW's decision to segment the GTI market.
I believe the published Torque will be the same at 350 NM peak.
-
Unless that diff is expensive, I really don't understand the split in the model either.
-
I'm a bit clueless when it comes to differentials. What does the Mk5 and Mk6 GTis have in this regard?
I've never taken my GTi on the track so perhaps it's not important. (I've tracked my old Elise a few times in the past but no idea what that had in this regard either...probably nothing!).
-
The European brochure is showing both at 350Nm from 2500-4000rpm.
-
Also GTD is 380Nm
0-60(0-100kmh) is quoted the same for both variants at 6.5s compared to the GTD at 7.5s
-
But what about the Edition 40 market, surely with the golf at 220/230ps the 240ps edition 40 is not going to look as appealing.
-
I'm saving for an Edition 40. If it only has 240PS, I won't care cos I probably won't drive it much anyway.
-
I will put your deposit down Simon, you will be 2nd in the queue behind me : )
-
I'll have to leave it for a while Lee. My bank account took a bit of a hit recently. But as soon as I'm ready, you'll be the first to know.
-
yeah but only 10ps better than the performance GTI at a pretty penny too.

A Quaife LSD costs in excess of £1000 retrofit, so it's comparable in costs?
I would rather they just offered the GTI as the one car with the LSD...

I will use that line : ) being a typical salesman and all

 Someone at VW has been doing their market research with the LSD costs.
Is there a bonus for selling Performance pack? You can give me a cut

If I was buying I would pay the extra.
The diff and brakes would make such a difference.
I've drive alfas back to back with and without the Q2 diff and its like chalk and cheese. The one with the diff just grips like poop on a blanket especially on a damp road.
How good vw namby pamby half house diff is compared to a real mechanical diff is too be seen.
