Title: Cleaning throttle butterfly valve 1.8t AUM
Post by: AntMk3GTi on 04 March 2013, 15:08
Hi

I've done a search on this but can't find a definiate answer for just cleaning the butterfly valve. If I carefully clean the valve without removing the TB (just taking of the intake pipe), do I need to get it re-aligned with VAG com? I've only got un-registered VCDS lite.

Thanks

Nope it'll be fine, take both pipes off and do both sides.

The car aligns it itself after 20 odd miles anyways so just to for it.

And if you force it either way you can damage the stepper motor

Cheers for the replies. I was going to carefully clean around the intake, then use a brick on the accelerator pedal to open the throttle so I can clean the edge of the butterfly valve.

I won't use any force to open so hopefully wont be out of alignment.
