Title: Havent posted in a long time...
Post by: BA0GTI on 02 March 2013, 18:14
Yeah havent posted on here in a while as have been busy with booking/sorting my wedding out in october this year!
wanted to spend so much on the car already but only been able to afford little mods at the moment - As below.
Really want to upgrade the backbox as well to the milltek one but £450+ is alot to part with and every time i find one on ebay for cheap it goes before i can even look in my empty wallet

Front and black VW badges sprayed Black. Rear GTI Badge removed, sprayed black and now on dash trim

Also went with the aftermarket headunit upgrade as it was a lot cheaper then getting hold of the RC510 and then trying to get bluetooth fitted too. Got this Pioneer double din touch screen with ipod/iphone/bluetooth/video in motion off ebay for just shy of £200. Fitting it was fun...

I am after a swap on the alloys as i would prefer some ED30 BBS ones in black or a like. Also had a weird sound almost like a wiring coming from just under front of dash after engine has warmed up and i have been flat out. must be something that moves as it slows down/goes quieter as i slow down. Doesnt do it all the time just every now and then. Friend suggested it could be drive shaft..any ideas? cheers

Nice car...same colour as mine  Shame they are a PITA to keep clean.

Not sure on your noise issue though...

Have you considered a BCS Exhaust system? Getting really good feedback so far...

I'm not a fan of the BBS Pescara alloys you're after.

MK5 GTI forum has a busy classifieds section, so something might come up here for you're exhaust:

EDIT: Milltek TBE for sale now...http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,62712.0.html

In terms of the noise when wiring did you use a Canbus in the install? Caught a wire when threading the iPod connection cable etc?

Go for a set of ED30 or R32 rear lights. Keeps OEM and they look good on black. And Pescaras are top quality but such a b!tch to keep clean with brake dust build up. Better than white worm on the Monza IIs I suppose though. Looking nice though. :afro:

Took it too a VW specialist today and he took it out for a spin and eventually it made the noise it has been making and he reckons it could be wheel bearing or drive shaft! shall find out next thursday!!  :undecided:
