Title: Golf Hell!!!!! Help guys please :(
Post by: monzablue16v on 28 July 2005, 21:03
aaaaaaaaaaaaaargghhhhhhh Bloody thing right then guys here we go the time has come to fix it or fook it might as well get your opinions too. this might be a long 1! get a brew!

Bad Points

Engine
Tappy tappy tap tap
Dips to 400rpm at junctions
Uses an epic amount of fuel

Interior

seats fooked
Carpet needed
Drivers window wobbles when open
can't find Climair wind deflectors anywhere even German Ebay!

Exterior

Needs a Respray
Little bits of rust
Wheels too small

Coilovers Fecking me right off.
Skinting me quicker than the missus!
Spent enough to buy that new kitchen the missus wants!!!

Good Points

Goes like a fecking train
corners like a dodgem
overtakes and spits out most "new" cars
looks better than any other car .
Always wanted one
Makes me grin   like a fecking fool apparently!
future classic
Limited colour run so when I miss it I can't get another the same easily
Getting a Company Car so will become weekend toy and nighttime nightmares
Sticker sums it up: It's A Volkswagen Thing Even I Don't Understand
Driving it makes me happy!
Bugjam ;)
You guys :)  :vomit:

So guys Pros and con's I can think of at the moment probably add more tommorow!

Do I throw more money at it and make it show worthy?

Mk4 interior seats front and back, doorcards and maybe just maybe a funky dash like a TT or similar
Respray in original colour
3.1 VR6 (Turbo??  )
280mm Disks (£250 ish) or Brembo 4 pots (£495)
New standard ride suspension
Big Borbet A's 15x7 or 16x9
Rolled arches or g60 kit
Super (non chav) ICE Install
tilt and slide electric sunroof
Air con
Etc.

OR Fix the fooked bits and use it as a weekend and evening car.

Or fix it enough to flog it and pay off what I owe stop renting my garage and run away bearing in mind I'm skint!!! :)

Give us some moral support I really don't want to do that last one it hurt to write it but decision time is about 2 weeks away! oh bugger

If the revs dip at junctions then your C0 level is too lean - it was on mine anyway!

O yeah, been here many times :) - just fix the bad points and use it as a drvie about!

If you sell it you will regret it. Ive been using a new car/company car all week and was soooooooooooooooooo bored! Im back in my golf this morning and the smile is back on my face. They may be old and have problems but the good far outways the bad! Plus spending money is fun!

Keep it for sure !!!

If it's not a daily drive there's no urgency to get things sorted over night - so take your time (Sorry that's not a Grolsch plug!)

I've just spent the last 3 months trying to replace my previous GTi after an accident and god did I miss her. Imagine how gutted you'd feel if u sold it and someone finished what you started ?? Take it from a fellow Monza blue owner

And from what you said there's nothing major in there to worry about at all ...

Get to some shows and get the VeeDub bug back !
