My 2.0 Gti has been lying unused a month or so and after firing it up again a few issues seem to have materialised!
It was idling rough so scanned for fault codes and got a load of Oxygen sensor codes...
17550 Load Calculation Cross Check: Lower Limit Exceeded : P1142
17593 Linear O2 Sensor: Common Ground Wire: Short to Ground : P1185
17591 Linear O2 Sensor: Reference Voltage: Short to Plus : P1183
17588 Linear O2 Sensor: Pump Current: Short to Plus : P1180
16990 Internal Control Module: Processor Fault : P0606
19667 Oxygen Sensor B1 S1: Heater Return Coupling : P3211
I guess this means the sensor is knackered and a new one will sort me out? Would a clean do the job??
Not sure if this is related (can't quite see how but it appeared at the same time!) but when I start up there is a loud fan noise. If I turn off and on again then it's gone!
Any help appreciated!!

...I should add that it doesn't sound like the normal radiator fan noise - it sounds like someone has turned a hoover on under there!! :undecided:

replace the sensor mate but i'm not clued up on the 2ltre, take all the fuses out as well and check if theyre ok and oil levels too

Cheers Gti_James - think I'm resigned to replacing the sensor - never attempted it before but I've spent a bit of cash on it recently and I'm reluctant to make my mechanic any richer!

haha thats why i take mine to the small specialist garage as theyre the ones who do a proper a job because they need the custom

The noise upon start up is probably going to be the secondary Air intake pump. Not sure what it does and didnt even know i had one until the rubber bung came off one day and started to make a noise like a hoover. Replaced it and its all fine. the noise only starts for about 1 min, then the pump automatically cuts out . was a bit of a shock to start with but now its all fine.
