Title: Engine mounts and driveshafts for a 1.8 20vt conversion?
Post by: ben_ogden on 27 February 2013, 18:32
In the middle of converting my 1.4 mk3 to a 1.8 20vt people but got a few queries... I've been told the gti driveshafts and engine mounts are a straight fit but need clarification... Anyone help?

Cheers guys!

Mk3 16v mounts. Gearbox + front ones are differant.

Driveshafts fit from gti etc all fit the mk3 16v gearbox you need. Im not sure about starting with a 1.4
So if you used gti shafts youd be good, replace the hubs etc at same time to 5x100 for the biger brakes too

Theres a thread if you check, its got the full list of parts needed

The GTI driveshafts will not fit in the 1.4 hubs so these will definitely need changing too

Would need to know which gearbox you are going to be running before deciding on suitable driveshafts

Thats an 02A then, which code?? And how come you've gone for such an old gearbox??
Anyways, it will be 100mm flanges so GTI driveshafts and hubs, with 16v GTI mounts
