Title: Part number lift pump
Post by: Harooshum on 11 October 2003, 02:07
I dont wan2b lectured from any1, but it was my last hope and i got a fuel lift pump from GSF.  I told them the right year (i think all mk2's have the same one!) model etc, and when i lifted the boot carpet, I noticed it's a different size.  Fcukers!  A few posts back i was saying about why my car dont work, and this is what happens when you use GSF!

Does anyone know the VAG part number for it on my '91 16v.  It's the one that sits ontop of the fuel tank and located under a round panel under the boot floor.  Cheers

Thanks rich that's just wat i'm looking 4!  However there is a big plastic 'union nut' securing the whole assembly from the top.  I cant get it off.  Should be able to unscrew it but cant!  How would you do it?

As Fraiser says it should unscrew. Its probably seized on. If you end up breaking it to get it off, let me know and I'll dig out the part number for that too. That number is listed under the 'fuel tank and lines' section.

Actually, i nearly broke my wrists off trying to unscrew it.  I even got a large adjustable ratchet to grab it and twist, and let some others have a go but it still wont budge!  My baby's sick with fuel starvation and I reckon this needs changing, but that fcukin nut is doin MY nut!

Has anyone had probs with this b4? PLEEEEZ

whne i took one off one i was breaking i took a flathead screwdriver and placed it by one of the ridges on that plastic nut. Used a small mallet and it came off - i only recommend this if you are taking the old one off to replace it with a new one.

I have an ETKA (VW-Audi parts catalogue) on CD-ROM.

There is an online version, unfortunately its in russian. However with a little patience you can usually find what you're looking for:-

Pump it through an russian-english web translator.

This one seems to work well, does the links as well so you can browse the site and every page is translated.

Nice one 'Dako Yam'. I've used a few translator sites before but that one is the best yet.
