VW0270-13
The New Golf GTI and GTD open for ordering on Tuesday 26 March and go on sale on Tuesday 18 June, beginning another chapter in the 37-year-long history of the original hot hatch.
From 26 March customers can configure both models on volkswagen.co.uk and Retailers will be able create quotes for them on Connect OnLine.
The new GTI’s engine packs a 220 PS punch that delivers incredible performance and makes the most of the New Golf’s gains in efficiency and dynamics. The new GTD has a 184 PS common-rail diesel engine, making it the most powerful GTD to date, and returns a frugal 67.3 mpg.
Keep an eye on Desktop for news of when the first examples will arrive in the UK, ahead of the models’ on-sale date in June.
Pricing and equipment
An updated price list, with full specification details and our exciting range of options, will be published on Desktop on 26 March.
For the first time we are offering Performance Pack option for the GTI. The pack uprates the car’s power to 230 PS, and adds larger diameter brake discs and a mechanical limited-slip differential.

 looking forward to being able to configure one....
-
Excellent news on the March date, just manage to get on order in before ours is 3 years old in April.
EVO - Is it possible you could try and find out what may be standard on UK cars, each report is missleading, some say this others say that.
Standard or not?
18's?
Xenons with LED DRL?
Climacontrol?
Winter Pack?
Parking Sensors F/R?
3.5" / 5.8" or 8" Display?
Thanks
Dave

does the winter pack include a heated windscreen :undecided: can finally say goodbye to internal fog and frost

As soon as I have a confirmed PDF of the price list which by the looks of it we will on the 26th of March I will let you know what is standard trim but it appears very good if it has just everything the current GT has at least that will be a huge improvement over the last model.

Can't wait to get my GTD order in for 1st September reg
-
Be sure to get your order in early, we are already eating into April allocation of normal golf orders. March full and 6 already filling Aprils allocation which we don't even know how many we can order in April......
GTI and GTD allocation will be far and few between.....
-
Be sure to get your order in early...
Anyone would think you were a salesman reading that
-
Its just to avoid guaranteed disappointment : ) I cant keep count of the amount of customers I have had in the last few weeks wanting a mk7 golf and when you say I cant order your car till April at the earliest so that means delivery maybe in July it turns them straight off.
Remember all the ridiculous lead times on mk6 gti etc......I have a feeling the mk7 is going to be worse.
-
I've already told my dealer i want a september delivery, i'm paying a deposit this month to secure an allocation, as soon as the price list comes out my order will be in!!
-
Pondering taking the plunge myself.
I'm thinking about either going for an early build with minimal options (to minimise depreciation as standard spec doesn't look too bad) if I can find a dealer who is willing to go on his knees and... erm... well give me a pretty cracking price to change, or hang on 12 months to see if any major spec changes come in by which time mine will be 3 years old and easier to sell privately with its high spec.
I learned a bit of a lesson with the mk6 that went the opposite way to the mk5.
I had an early build mk5 (bought second hand) but resisted the change to a later mk5 due to the specs actually got worse as the car got a few years into production (lost the nice fog lights and blue glass etc).
But the mk6 actually gained the LED tails after a while which were difficult to retro fit to my early car and I ended up changing my first mk6 after a couple of years to make retro fits unnecessary.
It all depends on what's rumoured to be round the corner with the mk7 that I might regret if I get an early one (plus wifey wants a new house next year and that's going to clean me out several times over and then a bit more for good measure...)
And I really could do with borrowing a mk7 to see if the mirrors will clear my narrow garage door.

This might be of interest to some.
Its the Swiss price list, but gives some deatils (not in Englsih) of what will come. I expect we will get UK price list very soon too.

Did they say anything about any discount or did you ask for any ?
-
I didn't ask tbh, although i think it's very doubtful for the first few months at least? Same as the mk6 where all the brokers promised discount but couldn't get any allocation?
-
We are now into May allocation
-
My dealer hasnt phoned me yet, when i called him they said end of the month he thinks the books open
-
We are now into May allocation
We now know where not to go to order then. :lipsrsealed:
No allocation left at Cheltenham.
I don't know, salespeople think we are all stupid.

Confused.
What is the difference between 'open for ordering' and 'on sale'???

Golf GTI/gtd/r come out of separate allocation pot.

I know.
Keep the GTI/GTD list to yourself though. Don't want to lose potential customers who know you don't have any allocation left.....
