  I wanted to come.
Looking sweet as usual though, what sort of speeds, times did it do? or did they not bring the timing gear with them?
-
no they didn`t bring any timing gear and was lucky we got on the track as it was pissing down all day, but plenty of donughts and 6 good old thrashings round the track, until the fan belt decided to come off
-
Still it has to be said that that car is immense.
All credit to joe and his engineering ability. Must look mental sitting next to a standard mk1 seeing it so much wider and squatted on its arse.
-
next time im taking wellies, an umbrella, and possibly a small dingy.. and just got home to hear about the tornados ! that would've made a good backdrop to the pictures
-
They didn't bring any timing gear?!
Am I the only one that thinks thats not only a bit stupid, but a wasted opportunity.....
Hats off to Jo for building an awesome looking machine.
-
i think they did bring it.. but didnt have time to set it up thanks to the massive amounts of rain, plus jo broke his car after 6 laps
-
looks good!!!!
-
Give us an engine shot Jo :D that looks good! still can't believe you got that engine in that car and didn't give up I had a headache changing my oil lol :D
Is there a step by step thing anywhere or is it in the pipeline? wouldn't mind a read of that epic list!!!
-
Looking good, loving this car so much!!!!!
Has anyone noticed in the PVW write up on inters that they didnt mention this car once.....i'm thinking that they are a weeeeeeeeee bit jealous
-
photos just uploading:
http://www.golfgti.co.uk/viewfeature_content.asp?featureID=33
it rained so so so much all day, there was no chance of timing gear runs. still, it was a great reason not to be at work today :)
-
Those seats look comfy Jo!!
where you hid the engine? sorry if I seem ignorant but, I haven't seen anything of it missed Leeds as well do'h your tvr golf is like a forum rumour you get a gllimpse now and then!! looks sweet though good work
-
4 features on Jo's car here:

plus the Leeds show:

do I do all these pages for nothing?
one engine:
http://www.golfgti.co.uk/pageimages/tvrjo_golf+/7.jpg
remember it's a complete TVR engine and chassis with a seriously stretched mk1 body on top. it's not just an engine swap :)
-
do I do all these pages for nothing?
Yes  i thought this place was just a forum  :undecided:
-

again, big thumbs up to jo!!
Dinx
-
i luv that car!
-
My brain hurts just looking at that I can't even see the feckin engine! Which TVR is it? is it a mid engine or just really low down, I need to have a good nosy around your truck Joe! still !
-
it's a Chimera, the engine starts in the middle of the normal engine bay and carries on into the body.
just finishing editing the video from today
jo had his kids and wife there today, he even took the mrs out for what must have been 2 mental laps!
huge respect to jo as always, i have loved following this project so it was wicked to see it finally on the track today
-
8mb video

-
its the words "f**king hell" as the guy lost it round the corner
-
oooooh! nice video..
-
typical innit?! i travel for frickin miles to stand around in the rain, give up and decide i'll do the 4 hour drive home just as the sun comes out! call gibby and find out its on the track!!!! arse. still was amazing to see it painted, and at least i saw it driving a tiny amount!!
-
^^^
meanwhile mix was chowing down an entire x-large pizza from pizza hut....
-
car is sweet as... jo - can u take me for a ride?! per-lease!!!!????
-
Wow looking great, all I can say is why wasn't I there
-
numbers had to be kept down to a bare minimum unfortunately
if we had our way it would've been open invitation
-
It was a good day out if you like standing in a hanger keeping out of the rain and getting your feet p1ss wet through ! I can't believe how long these photo shoots take, the photographer must have been taking pics for 4 - 5 hours !
Having said that, I must enjoy standing in hangers keeping out of the rain and getting my feet p1ss wet through because I loved it and it was worth it to see it getting ragged about and doing doughnuts ! Having followed this project for 18 months it was cool to see it finally up and running. Hat off to Jo and his mate John for the time and effort they have put into this project and look out for the next one, a wide bodied left hand drive Audi coupe with a monster american V8 engine if the rumours are to be believed, bring it on !
-
gibby did you and vaughn leave from a different exit ? or did you just stop for a slash on the way out ? because jv was waiting for you at the gate to let you have a blast in his motor !
-
I had to take the WD40 back to the Lupo guys as I pinched it off them and I'm an honest kind of guy. I saw jv and had a quick blast in it  I'd kill myself with one of those there Jetta fronted, left handed mk2s with the wide body kits !  Gave it a bit of a blast down the road and apart from sticking out in the middle of the road as I didn't want to get too close to the hedge I fookin loved it !

Sounds like a top day out. can't wait to see the magazine pics
-
Those pic's look wicked - that is just an amazing car. I cant wait to see it at shows and read up about it in the mag. What would be interesting is to see the 0-100 speed times and see if S11EPS would go up against the golf TVR in his Ferrari..??!!!
So Jo are you going to start charging people for a drive in your car? Worth thinking about mate....!!
Amazing job done.
-
The scariest thing about it and Jo being the kind of guy he is, he said that if it hadn't have broken he'd have let us have a go !
Had to laugh at this pic though, who brought the mk3 !

I could have gone but it was just to far to travel

Said it once, and i will say it again, this is an immense machine and all credit to joe and his wife for putting up with him, pity i was skint and couldn't get up to see it, can remember seeing it at inters and the interest yet funnily enough not a single mention in any reports. Just goes to show you how support from a group of like minded people can make others get the hump.
I would love a ride in that monster, maybe one day..... /me engages dream mode
Again, all credit for joe for having the insight and passion to persue it. Top man and machine.

Can't believe the amount of other sites linking (aka nicking my copyright-ed content  ) to the TVR pics and video!
Some very odd comments on the saxosportsclub website. People just don't get it!
-
what do you expect bagging an exclusive like that!!! youll have stalkers and everything next...
lol

-
Found the comments by the saxo boys... mixed bag really. The clued-up ones seemed to appreciate what an amazing work of engineering it is alone, some loved the retro style of it. Then ofcourse there's the bunch of 17 yr olds who think a saxo is the best thing ever and wouldn't know a cool car if it ran over their reebok classics.
-
wonder what TVR would think of Jo's car if they knew.....?
-
they'd probably say well done!! at least he managed to get a metal (classic shape) body round it and it aint gonna fall to bits!!!!fibreglass bodies arent all there 'cracked' up to be!!!!
lol
Gaz
-
yeah I know... brother in law has a TVR - not what I would buy... but I would buy Jo's TVR-MK1.... Do we know what shows Jo's going to bring the TVR-MK1 too next? Really want to see it..
-
just uploaded my pics, got alot that are similar to others on here but heres a few more. the photo's don't do the paint justice. its sooooo lush! and aint cheap either! cough*£180alitre*cough!

Sorry....Had to post it on a Local cruise forum, God some interesting responces:
Performance Enthusasts Responces:
Owner of a 400BHP Scooby and a 300BHP R5 - " hes got it done then and wow what a result. best erm... mk1 i've seen ever!!!"
Owner of a 1.6 Clio - "ohmy.gif and wub.gif i want it! the bloke that build that should get man of the year award or some sort of special legendary status. Well done that man for producing an mazing car!"
Owner Of a twin turbo Supra and FTO - " It's all good dude.....it doesn't seem that fast though.......even though it obviously is lol.....need to quater mile it, the times it could run would be amazing"
Girl Racer who Owns a MX5 - "ohmy.gif Hubbada Hubbada!! wub.gif I want it!"
Owner of a 2.0 8V Mk3 Golf - " Looks awesome & bet its fast as fook smile.gif"
Morons Responces:
Owner of a 1.2 Corsa who doesnt even have a licence - " look k i would drive it but i would make the engine bay nicer" (he was subsquentally beaten to death and hung as an example to all those who talk sh!t about things they have no clue about)
Owner of a 1.2 Clio - "thumb.gif looks gd sounds gd but it looks way to low dont look rite. needs to be bit higher as rims to far into arch looks silly u can only see half them bk rims" (He was laughted at for that post)
-
the car awesome! i rember seeing at international and thinking what ever colourhe paints it, it wont do it justice! how wrong am i :embarassed: the car looks and sounds awesome and its just amazing i will be drooling over it at edition38
-
Imagine using the car as a daily driver! You would have one sore Ar$e! Get your nan to crochet you some lovely little cushions. Or buy a set of them lovely wooden bobbly seat covers old people have. While your at it you need to rest a set of cushion in the back window either side of the fuel tank. Or am i missing the point?
P.S Cheers Joe for letting me have a good mooch round the car and a sit in the drivers seat at the Leeds show. Top job!
-
We are simply not worthy
Some of the comments are strange , if any of theses people are capable of creating somethin so individual and doing it so well then they are ok to comment , but when they think the be all and end all of car modifications is a scooby vent and a set of silly oversized wheels on there 1.1 saxo then they should keep there il linfomed opnions under there burberry hat
-
Just a thought...
is the TVR-Golf road legal?
I don't see a tax disc, so is it trailored everywhere.
Can you imagine that screaming past some prat in his modded Vectra SRI on the motorway as Jo goes from show to show?
-

Would also like to know if its road legal, would be funny as seein it pull up next to some chav in a fiesta and watch him hav a go.

Is the TVR Golf yours or is it soeone else's?
-
It was his, and is no longer around, as it has been dismembered.
-
It was his, and is no longer around, as it has been dismembered.
Why did he dismember it? Do you know if he bought off someone else, its just I'm sure I used to work with the original owner and was wondering how his project was going
-
Nope he built it from scratch.
Dismembered to make way for something else. Something interesting.

So is there a few of these about then, Mk1 golfs with TVR engines and Chassis? I would have thought it was a one off. My mate who was building one is called Jo
-
nope only one. Joe is the bloke that built it. Orange paint job, and wasn't really a mk1 tbh, but still looked cool all the same.
-
Just as a query on this, anyone know whats goin on with joe's new project?
-
What was the final fate for the m1 tvr?
-
Just as a query on this, anyone know whats goin on with joe's new project?
yes, sounds awesome! was chatting to him about it at the weekend. plus tvr golf still xists but its just not tvr powered anymore ......

I used to work with Jo (no e !) originally I asked if gti89 if he had the car from scrath and I was told yes, I knew there could only be one of these beasts! Shame it is no longer with us
