As title say's, does a 97' mk3 golf 1.8 gearbox (DFP 07086) fit into a 97' Mk3 golf gti 2.0 8v AGG? I got myself a clean low mileage 1.8 gearbox for pennies, and my present 2.0 gti gearbox need's replacing soon. But am i going to run into problem's? Cheer's Rob

have a read at boneybradley post, this should clear things up. What car was this gearbox removed from?
My bad

Cheer's bud  The other question that's buggin me is, will i need a 1.8 clutch? I've read that the 2.0 gti gearbox uses a large input shaft apparently? Thus rendering mine useless! I've read the flywheel's are the same though

It's an 020 with 100mm flanges so yes it will fit, the ratios are slightly different but has the same final drive ratio so you won't notice the difference

I have a list of ratios, types and codes on my site http://boneybradley.webs.com/theenginesandgearboxes.htm (http://boneybradley.webs.com/theenginesandgearboxes.htm)

Cheer's bud, a very helpful link  But my only question i have now is, will i need a 1.8 clutch? Or will the gti 2.0 clutch work with the 1.8 gearbox?

The clutch will work mate

That'll save a few pennies  I didn't see any point in having to buy a new clutch, when i replaced mine roughly 20,000miles ago
