hey guys when i bought my mk5 gti (damaged cat d) it never came with a airbox just the engine cover so now im thinking is it worth buying a new one or one from scrapyard or just buy a performance part instead? not to bothered if it adds anything as im looking to sell the car when its all done anyway. so just need a quick (cheap) solution guys
cheers

secondhand original gotta be cheaper...plus OEM means less questions on the CAT D?
-
am i being silly, isnt the standard engine cover, the standard airbox as well?!

The intake pipe on the front engine can be detached from the engine cover/filter assembly. It is considered a separate part.
I would stick to OEM, you are unlikely to make any money on a performance part.

ahhh that makes sense now! i was gonna say

i rang my local vw dealers and they quoted £190 for the airbox! not a option so will be looking for a second hand one. i hear the airbox is the same on seat leon and audi a3 also passat true?

they've quoted you for the engine cover/airbox there i'm sure. you'll have to go in to the dealers and point out the bits you want on their computer
