Hey guys,
Since owning my golf in April I have solved and fixed a number of error codes but the one bastard code that sits there laughing at me is that stupid "boost loss between Turbo and DV!" Think its 1705?
So far I have done the following.....
- changed all boost pipes to silicones.
- changed standard DV to a forge 007p.
- changed charge pipe to AGU one.
- full TB clean.
- two services.
- oil pickup pipe changed.
I cleared the code and drove for a week and hey presto it's back!
I also have a new south boost gauge installed and I'm getting around 5 psi and its holding fine.
Before I pay for a smoke test is there anything else I could try?
-
5psi holding or 5psi full on wellies? i get it leveled at 0 when going from A-B but thats for fuel reasons when i floor it it holds at about 10 or just under until i hit a cruising speed then melows to between 5 and 10 (I like to cruise a bit faster than most) but if im going 70 its between 0 and 5, im telling you mate get that PVC system yanked out as well as N249 delete and carbon canister, that way you've ruled out a couple of issues really

Has your DV got the correct spring in it?

and that :lipsrsealed:

is the fault code 17705 and has it been remapped previously?
5psi sounds like limp mode boost levels
it could be an issue with a remap or even the stock map that causes a 17705 even though there is no leaks or problems with the car
-
Is the TIP silicone?
Have you checked the lowest connection on the TIP, from memory that goes into the PCV system
-
Engine is stock no remapped and no I haven't yet changed the TIP and it holds at 5 psi
-
not sure of this is relevant to you but a guy over at ukmkivs had success replacing his rocker cover gasket. He found it was leaking and causing surging and juddering problems. Not sure of your suffering from that or if its just limp mode your getting. Im having the same issue so im gonna do it just to rule it out. Like you ive done the agu chargepipe which i thought was gonna fix the 17705 code, next up is the catch can and an n249 bypass and probably an sai removal.
-
check the lowest connection on the TIP, bet the pipe is split or the TIP is
-
you have changed the boost pipes but have you checked the pcv system itself as thats usually where the split leaking pipes are and not the boost pipes themselves
-
Pressure drop is between Turbo and DV so can only be one of the pipes off the TIP
-
I will check the TIP ASAP (pending a day off without rain) I have also changed the PCV pipe to silicone however I did notice that all the little pipes leading off the valves think that's the n249? Looked a little old and brittle but upon inspection I could not see any cuts/splits. Am I right in thinking I can just buy some 3mm silicone to replace all those little pipes?
I don't want to do a bypass or catch can thingy because a good number of times I have looked at tutorials and stuff and it just well confuses me and I know I would get something wrong lol.
I'm certain I am not getting limp mode as the car does feel quick if I floor it abit. The boost gadge reads when I floor it it can reach upto 8-10 psi then drops and holds at 5 also I can easily hit 100 which I found out while travelling home the other day and didn't realise how quick I was traveling which I then dropped it down to 70 so I think that rules out limp mode.

easy enough job really, i did mine at my GF's cousins garage and had help if needed but for a complete amature i did it all in about an hour and a half  or just pay a garage an hours labour and they'll do it for you
-
you had a remap yet??
