Despite freezing temperatures at the mo, recently I've found myself driving round with a window down just to listen to the addictive whistling sound of my turbo spooling up! Does anyone else do this or have I gone a little loopy?! :laugh:

Carbonio intake, 3" TBE and stage 2 Revo has had me doing this everywhere I go since December, sounds awesome as it spools up :evil:
Wind deflectors make this a much more pleasant experience though :wink:

Nice one. A map would be nice, but there's not much point for me as cars on leasehire :sad: To be fair I've not been able to make use of the 210bhp due to the s**t falken tyres that currently adorn my front wheels! I have the previous owner to blame for these. Luckily they will need changing soon and a set of Goodyear asymmetrics will be going on.

This is a good shout actually.
I once changed a split C revision for a D revision valve. In both instances there was a distinct whistle when on partial throttle. Since I relocated my DV to the 'ko4 setup' and changed to a G revision DV I don't hear the turbo much or any whistling really, which does lead me to believe this could be a boost leak as well.

It's bolted onto the turbo by 3 bolts. You will need a ramp or stands to lift the front of the car.
It's not the easiest item to get to, I have read you can also get to it by removing the offside front wheel and removing the arch liner.
You will need to remove it to see if the diaphragm is split:

Alternatively you may have a D revision fitted. This does not have a diaphragm but is known to leak so I would recommend this is changed for a 'G' revision.

Thanks poached. To be honest I think I'm worrying about nothing. Surely I would have had some loss in power or something should my DV be split? I've noticed no changes in how my car drives.

Depends on your frame of reference. If the car had a split DV to begin with you would not know what a leak free system behaved like on this car?
It's not a massive issue but when people have had them changed they notice the difference and it will affect performance. But equally I drove around for several months or more with a faulty DV.
Maybe get it checked at your next service. You shouldn't be charged more than an hours labour (Its a 20 minute job on garage ramps).

I've only had it since sept 2012 and its been pretty rapid from the off! Getting it checked at next service sounds like a gd idea tho. Cheers mate

i must admit to having the window down and playing with the throttle to get the wooshes and induction noise now the intake is on, such a child

My tdi has the whissle and woishing drives me nuts. It's why I like when i drive the GTI it has little if any (has some since I got my intake pipe replaced under warrenty)or when WOT at high revs.
