hi all i know 20v conversions have been covered many times but i cant find the info i need through the search tool
i've got a gti 8v and a mk4 20v agu
im putting the agu into the mk3 and i want to run the mk4 dash too
is it easier to get the looms converted or to transfer the whole wiring from the mk4 onto the mk3
i'm more drawn to the whole loom route so I dont need to get the ecu decoded and get looms spliced. also less problems in future if i have any electrical problems it's easier to diagnose.
is there anything else i need to know when swapping the whole loom? like soldering mk3 plugs onto the loom for the doors etc or do i replace those aswell, and heating?
thanks in advance :)

All I know is that its a huge job and most people avoid it because its so big. It's easier to do mod the loom.

Pm gash, he has done a 20v conversion and an Audi dash swap he will prob be of most use to you I'd of thought
-
Shame he ain't got a project thread
-
is there anyone that sells converted looms on here?
i'm using the mk4 as a daily at the moment so can't really pull the looms out of the 2 cars, ideally i'd prefer to buy an already converted loom if i'm to go down that route.
-
Most people normally need your two looms to make one.
-
I might be wrong but im sure Kufatec sell loom conversion kits.

i do have a thread up haha.
with the loom its can be easier (my loom is a mk3/1.8t one) and quicker.
with the dash it can be made to fit but needs to be chopped a fair bit.
if your willing to take your time (possibly weeks) to fit the dash and loom then do that, if you want it done quicker then get the looms spliced. as for doing it a friend did mine, think he charges £70 to do the splicing with you supplying the looms too.
