Title: In Australia so why not have an Aussie car
Post by: Steve_PD on 24 February 2013, 13:43
Picked up a car to get road town in....

Ford Falcon Longreach Ute with a 302 Windsor V8

A few little mods

2.5 stainless exhaust and balance tube
Pacemaker headers
lowersprings on the front
polybushed front end

Sounds awesome with the V8 burble.
Doesnt like wet roads as all it wants to do is go sideways....!

It will do for 6 months or so. Second hand cars over here are f**king expensive!!! 5k doesn't get much maybe a 20 year old ford fiesta! It's nice inside for a 16 year old ford....did I mention it sounds awesome..

Keeping it now I've calmed down a little. A half decent replacement would cost 20k and a good car would be 30k plus

Got it towed 172km the other day and currently waiting on a new water pump, 2 idler pulleys and a belt. God knows how long they will take to come. You don't get express delivery over here.

Not aloud too, you have to own the car for 12 months to be able to bring it into the country. Otherwise, you have to a stupid amount of tax and try and get it registered.

If I had more notice of me coming over I would have bought a high end BMW or Porsche and made 6x what it costs in the uk

Not with the state of the roads over here! It would bottom out every 500 meters. Give it 6 months or so and a nice 4x4 will replace it

It's the same in Brazil. My dad paid around £25k for a Peugeot 207 SW which here in the UK would about £14k. Buying a new-ish base model Audi A3 over there costs as much as buying a brand new fully loaded Golf GTI here, about £30k. Anything imported has crazy import tax.
