Title: normal unlead and optimax settings?
Post by: Deefadog on 28 July 2005, 12:48
Is it the ignition timing or mixuture that has to be adjusted if you go from using normal 95ron to 98ron optimax and vice versa?

The fuel flap says 98 fuel to be used but id been using 95. So when i changed to optimax i adjusted timimg to manufacturers recomendation as they suggest 98 ron fuel. That left it running sweet with no pinking etc at all. May be worth looking at mixture also but really its the timing that is the main adjustment IMO.

no idea what my timing is set to but I use normal unleaded 99% of the time, as I don't see alot (if any) difference using super unleaded.

My car runs fairly sweet (touch wood  ) on std unleaded!!!

u need to set the ignition timing for the particular type of fuel your using

ideally u want to pick a brand of super unleaded, set your timing and then stick to that fuel brand

the car will run on 98 & 95 of various brands. but it is not running at its absolute best, due to slight differences within the fuels <science>ya get me??</science>
