Title: Need some help guys golf spulttering and running lumpy
Post by: vwkevgti on 22 February 2013, 14:48
Just been to get my mk4 out of lock up its been in there 7 weeks or so was running fine when it went away put it in there when we had all that snow

The battery was flat when I picked it up got it charged over night and fitted it back on the car and it struggled to start but after a few attempts it fired up sounding lumpy but this cleared after a few mins ticking over there was hardly any petrol in it so drove it to the petrol station sainsburys and put £40 in buy the time I'd pulled off from the petrol station it was sounding really lumpy above 3000 rpm I drove it for a few miles hoping it would clear but it got gradually worse and sounds lumpy on tick over now and all through the rev range

It was serviced about 9 month ago with new plugs ect and had a new maf sensor about 18 month ago and the cat was changed about 18 month ago too

One thing is I can't hear the fuel pump priming when I open the drivers door I've had a look on line but it could be loads of things from what I've seen on the net I've scanned my car with a basic scanner and there was only one code and that's the battery low vaultage one but my battery was dead any way

Any help would be great my golf is a 1.8 20v non turbo

Thanks kev

If its been sat for 7 weeks itll need a bot more time before it 'seems normal' again.
Just check all fluid levels and dont drive too fast until it sounds better
