Title: Alarm's full closure not working
Post by: Khare on 21 February 2013, 16:39
As title suggests, my alarm's full closure feature is not working. It was last week, nothing has been changed or touched since, I just noticed today that my windows and sunroof weren't closing. Any ideas? I don't know where to even begin with the alarm, don't even know where it's located! Alarm is a Laserline by the way, no idea on the model.

Mine was located behind the glovebox

All I can contribute is where it might be, sorry!

Cheers :afro:

Although I don't think it's behind glovebox. I didn't see anything non OEM when I removed the glovebox. I think it's by the fusebox...need to check.

Late mk3s have closure but its nothing to do with the alarm, have you checked if it works from the passenger side?

Check for broken wires in the A piller.

The closure works off the alarm, as soon as I lock the car with the bottom button it used to automatically close windows and sunroof.

Yeh the alarm will be tapped into the the cars closure system,

Have you tried the closure with the key in the door?

Good point, I've not tried it now. Does it work on the passenger side? Driver's lock is different from driver's key.

Yes it works both sides

Great, I'll try the passenger side and report back. I have a feeling it'll work though, if that's the case, what would be my next step? Checking the wiring on the alarm box?

I'm not 100% what wires are tapped into for the closure but have a look above the fusebox for the alarm box.

The alarm could be at fault as i'm sure its an aging system.

Ok tried closing it on passenger side and it worked. I was sat in teh car and locked it and it closed it via alarm. Couple of hours later not working again, so it's intermittent

Sounds like the alarm braking down, could be wrong though.
