Looks like a winner!
-
109 Carbon dioxides? Does that mean it's £20 to tax?
-
Yeah looks like it is £20 a year.
Its becoming more and more tempting, as the performance gap is decresing between the D and I.
Still not sure though.
Dave
-
Still not sure on the looks, might need to see one in the flesh or a few different colour / wheel combo's.
Still probably be an Audi A6 estate for the next set of wheels.
-
That looks really yummy!!!

The on paper performance gap is likely to remain the same.
I would have thought VW wont want to cannabalise the GTI market...

Should suit the diesel guys, cant see anything to tempt we away from a GTI

Interesting about the fuel economy they are stating that the 67.3mpg is better by 12mpg than the old GTD, meaning its only 55mpg. Well I thought the original as 40 something bottom, 53.3mpg middle and 65mpg top. So does that mean the top is going to be higher than 67.3mpg and thats the middle figure?? If so wow. Otherwise the outside doesn't look that nice, it certainly needs better wheels.
-
Looks like it sits low, wonder if 19"s will be available on the GTD?
-
My GTD is my first oil burner and its fast and powerful enough.
How about electric anyone?

With its six-speed manual gearbox, the New Golf GTD, powered by a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine producing 184 PS and 380 Nm of torque from 1,750 rpm, returns an impressive 67.3 mpg, making for CO2 emissions of only 109 g/km. With the optional six-speed DSG, fuel consumption is 60.1 mpg (three-door: 119 g/km CO2; five-door: 122 g/km CO2). The car can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 7.5 seconds, while the top speed is 142 mph.
The Golf GTD comes with smoked LED rear lights, LED licence-plate illumination and along with chrome dual tailpipes. The car also gets 17-inch alloy wheels with 225/45 tyres, side skirts, a rear diffuser, sports suspension and a large roof spoiler.
Distinctive
Distinctive GTD features distinguish the interior: along with tartan sports seats, a black rooflining, sports steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, there is also a GTD-specific gear lever, trim strips and instrument cluster. Comfort is guaranteed thanks to features including progressive steering, white ambience lighting, ‘Climatronic’ climate control, front and rear parking sensors and a winter pack.
GTD gets a distinctive and stylish interior
The new Golf GTD is available in Germany at an entry-level price of €29,350, and orders begin on 5 March. UK sales are expected to start in April, with deliveries in the summer, but pricing and spec have yet be finalised.

Just for clarification does this make the parking sensors and winter pack as standard?
-
Be nice if the GTi had those as standard too.
Think it will be April UK orders for the GTi too?

Some of those figures seem ambitious. 67mpg and 119g co2. is that right for this model? Even the 2.0 150PS can't get those sort figures surely?
As far as you're concerned, what are the figures meant to be for the car I'm getting?.. 5 door 2.0 TDI SE 150PS with DSG.

According to the VW website yours is Urban 52.3mpg Extra urban 68.9mpg Combined 62.8mpg.

^^^^ Which is why I don't understand the super low co2 output and higher mpg of the performance version... :undecided:

Disappointed with the looks … it is not enough to temp me out my mk6 gti. Hopefully the new gti will have more appeal

I want to get rid of mrs's damn Aygo as its served its purpose and is nearly 8yrs old now plus the gearbox has been nothing but trouble and the boot is about as big as a glove box...
My idea...she has the 6 GTD and I get a 7 GTD...
Will it happen only time will tell I guess...

If its anything like the differences between the 6 GTD & GTI then it's only gonna have different exhausts...surely!!!?

Change the D to and I, but some different alloys on it, split the exhausts either side and change the strip on the grill to a red stripe and there you have it : )
-
Ok a mk7 is not for me then
-
I will update you with info on the mk8 as soon as I have some
-
Gives me time to save up for it
-
Ok a mk7 is not for me then
Bear in mind that it's not just about how it looks, underneath is where it's at on the 7.

Nice comparison between the GTD and its main rivals
