hello, i noticed there is a symbol for the fogs in the clocks by the oil light, along the bottom.
ive never seen it light up, should it light up when the fogs are on??
i know there is ones for glow plugs and other things that the car might or might not have but mine came with fogs from factory.
-
I asked this some time ago. Basically no
If you look hard enough there is also a light for the seat belt.
-
ha fair enough!
how come they are all there?? just to make it look like other golfs could have lots of cool functions that make fancy lights come on??

same dials used in other models, for example the seat ibiza has both the seat belt off light and low fuel light that works (they don't when connected top the golf though! I know the seat belt light stays on continuous!)
-
ahh i see,
how come the seat got more fancy stuff than the golf?? thought it would have been otherway around?
thanks for the info guys!
-
yeah it's an odd one.... I guess as the golf was a late 80's very early 90's design, when they got round to doing the Seat they added the latest bits in the design
(early mk3 clocks are different, to later models)
-
yeah i would love an empty tank light
-
It really should have been standard although mine would have burnt out by now.
-
I guess it was vw's accountants not letting them modify the mk3's wiring loom to add the low fuel light!!
-
If you take the clocks out and hold them up to the light you'll see a load of different sysmbols.

Nothing to do with wiring loom, if you got a VDO speedo you only need to put the bulb in!

I put the missing bulbs in and got the light on continuously..... I read up on the seat loom and found it was wired differently to the golf!!

You sure?
I dont know if my clocks are vdo (mine is an anniversary)
Where does the bulb go?
All cars come with low petrol light but the golfs didnt
Oh they lights are smd on the bottom (on my clocks)

Yes, am sure - suggest you use google translate for this:

Google translator sucks along with Germans who force me to speak the worst German in a south London accent
Do us a favour and translate it for us, none of your Austrian trickery either
-
Not much to translate...
All you need is a VDO speedo that starts from 0 km/h-mp/h and a 1.1W bulb.... orange bayonet socket.
take your speedo and shine torch on the right side where the warning lights are, you'll see the one for the fuel warning light. put the bulb in - done.
what do you mean with austrian trickery
-
the interesting bit i understood was this
starts at the beginning of the red zone (reserve) to shine - somewhere in the red zone (center, ...) -. or never a certainty that it works does not exist. . the indicator light is not even at the beginning when the ignition, but only if the tank is nearly empty . There are also cases where it does not at all ,
I have lots of these spare bulbs so might give it a go at the weekend?
