Title: I have to give it a firm tug to get it up...
Post by: Phil303 on 27 July 2005, 19:12
In my 89 Clipper the cable in my drivers seat has snapped so now whenever I need to put the seat forward I have to crawl around on my hands and knees and give the offside catch a tug by hand, which is a pain.

I went to German, Swedish & French for a spare cable but they told me the one they stock isn't suitable for a Mk1 Cabrio as 'they have special seats'. Is this a load of cack or was he telling the truth? Surely a cable for any two-door Mk1 should fit?

Has anyone replaced the cable, if so what cable did you use and was it easy to fit?

Thanks guys.

Phil

I can't say for 100% that they are different to a tintop but I fail to see how they can be really.  :undecided: I think I'd try and speak to your friendly neighbourhood stealership to confirm or ask someone on here with ETKA. In fact, Stuart at ECP in Leeds used to work for the stealers and he's also got access to ETKA, he also runs an VW Audi forum www.vwaudiforum.co.uk. You could either ask on there or PM him on here if he'll have a look for you and check it out, I guarantee he will, he's a top man.
