Title: Mk4 diesel anniversary!
Post by: Gmanx1 on 19 February 2013, 01:14
I've been looking for a decent ani diesel the past few weeks,I know they are hard to come by but does anyone know of a good one for sale, I don't want a high milage one or one that's been damaged or modded.
I know it's a big ask but if you know of any can you send them my way please?
I would prefer it completely standard even down to the radio etc.

A few questions if any one knows.

1 what numbers do the diesels run from on the I'd plate?
2 has anyone got any info on how many we're made in 3 door?
3 what colours they came in and how many of each?
4 last one what type of price am I looking at for a good low milage one?
There is one on auto trader but its over £7000 is that a good price or a bit high?

Cheers all in advance.

1. Not consecutive - all depends on when they were ordered
2. They only came in 3 door
3. Red, black or silver
4. 7k for a 10 year old car  :lipsrsealed:

What do you class as low mileage?

£7k is crazy, you could get an r32 for the same money!

Cheers lads, well for a 10 year old car I would say 60-80k would be a decent milage to have, obviously the lower the better?

Cheers for the links,I like the first one sounds really nice.
To be honest I need a diesel so the r32 is a no go and I test drove an A3,nice cars but I prefer the golf. I would feel like an estate agent in an A3 lol

What do you guys think of the first anni in the link above?

Plus any one know numbers on how many diesels were made and how many in each colour?
Cheers for you time lads.

The first one looks quite tidy.

900 Diesels, 300 Tornado Red, 300 Black Magic Pearl, and 300 Reflex Silver. Same goes for the petrol models.

You already have a mk4 I don't get the stigma with an anni for starters the seats look like sh!t it's just a nice kit and alloys on it with a badge and a number on it... Most of them are overpriced and for the money I would rather invest it in my current golf or a get a newer golf...

1800.

I could be wrong, but I think No. 0001 was wrote off, I'm not sure where No. 1800 is. There's an Anniversary register, you could check that.

I understand what your saying guys but surely a low milage one with full history and in A1 condition will be come a rare car in years to come,it will be a pleasure to own in years to come. Sort of a collectors item so to speak.

Is 60 to 80k low mileage? Personally so piling be spending that kind of money but that's up to you mate for 7k there heaps better cars out there as Barry said any car given enough time will be rare!!!  It's ure money at the end of the day but 7k for like a 10yr old car with. 60k on the clocks is madness

I'm not going to spend 7k on a golf,I'm not crazy. Lol
I just think they are nice cars that are fairly well built,I would rather have a well looked after low milage anni that a standard mk4 150. Surly the anni will be a more desirable car to sell on in a few years. More than likely worth a bit more to.

No MK4 is ever going to be a collectors item to be honest. An anni will always fetch more than a standard GTI, but the amount will decrease as the car depreciates. E.g. Lets just say there are 2 identical MK4s to buy:

1. Standard 1.8T GTI - £3k, in 5 years time worth £1k.
2. Standard 1.8T Anni - £6k, in 5 years time worth £1800-2000.

The Anni is still worth considerably more than a standard Gti, but you will have lost a lot more money on it. That's what happened with MK3's and i'm sure it will happen with MK4's as well. Is it really worth it?

it will be worth more than a standard 1.8t if they are both the same condition,an just because a car has low miles doesnt mean it will be problem free

Well built its the same parts as any other mk4  and as Dom said the mk4 golf is 1 of the most popular cars in the uk I don't think they will be vary rare or hold there value as much as you already own a diesel golf why not just spend the money on it?

its also more expensive to replace the valances and skirts once some local skanks have taken them off while your asleep  other than that annis are very nice but theres far better out there for the price
Title: Re: Mk4 diesel anniversary!

7k seems a bit steep for one. I mean bloody hell i sold mine 6 years ago and got 9.5k for it with 70 thousand miles. I sold it to buy my r32.

I would deffo own the Tdi version Anni though. Paying the extra is to be expected as they were limited.

True that you can buy other cars for that money but your buying onto the fact they are rare. Who wants to buy a ford or bmw and blend in as they produced 20k of them.

Anni all the way mate

In all fairness annis are far better than a standard gti !
When i had my complete anni interior it was such a nicer place to be than what it was before, the seats look pretty awesome in person not so much in pictures as they come out pinky and the exterior is unquestionably better hense why theres so many rep mobiles about !

If i could go back to when i brought my gti i deffinitly would of opted for a anni over it even if it would of cost 2k more the extras if brought at "scene" prices easily tally over the extra cost !

I think I might have come across wrong with my points, sorry lads.
I just think its better to own an anni rather than a standard 150 BHP mk4.
I know they will never be collectors items but I would rather own an anni as its a bit more prestige than standard ones.

I disagree that in 5 years an anni will be worth less than 2k a clean tidy example will be worth more, that's just my thoughts.

You are aware you get 180bhp standard gti also yeh?   And I think you will get a shock to see what they will be worth in 5 yrs

Cheers Damien. I got mine for an absolute steal with very low mileage, over two years ago in the UK. I personally think they're worth more than a standard GTI when you factor in all the extras they have, but some of the prices people try to sell them for are absolutely crazy.

One sold here late last year for just shy of €7500

Haha true mine basically looks similar to an anni now Anni front and rear gen with gen r32 sides and votex spoiler will get new pics up shortly as miltek and KW's are going on next week

I bought my old Anni new. It looked nothing like anything out there from the mk4 range at the time.

I remember when i first got it, everyone would ask what is it or compliment the car. Me and the mrs was walking the dog once, we came back and had a couple taking pics of it lol.

The 'good ones' wont ever drop to 2k. Good low millage example R32's are still fetching 8k+ and thats a 10 or 11 year old car and by today's standard it has a serious drinking problem lol

I'd say it looked seriously special on the road back in 2002 when it was brand new. There'll always be someone out there willing to spend silly money on a clean, low mileage Anniversary or an R32, I just hope I can find one of those people when it comes to selling mine
