Hi all,
Picked up some cheap, badly kerbed Monza Shadows with almost new tyres a while back. Decided to have a go at refurbing them myself. Sanding and filling is going okay, and in a few weeks I hope to be ready to prime them for painting/spraying.
Still trying to decide on a colour. I want to keep the "Shadows" in black, but I can't help thinking I should go for something other than silver. Something like Gold, or Anthracite maybe. Anyone out there go some non-standard-colour Monza Shadows, to perhaps give me some ideas?
Ta.

On a black car right?
Real deep purple
-
Interesting! In bright sunlight the Pearlescent Black does have a Purple tinge to it. Not sure it's very "manly", but then nor am I, so...
-
Yes, the one in my sig. :)
-
Anthracite would be my choice.
-
I was going with Anthracite as the mostly likely choice, but then I saw a Black GTi yesterday with Monzas that looked grey/Anthracite. Either that or they were filthy...I couldn't tell, (I was driving too and at a slight distance). I'm not sure I want a car where the wheels just look dirty.
Too many decisions. :undecided:

Be different.
I regret getting my porshce twists in black. But then I feel I was limited with my car being silver. Black you can get away with far more I think.
Chrome affect, heard of aeromax coating, google them. Looks amazing! It is what I want next!

Some types of Blue can look good on black cars. I think this is Tiffany Teal Blue

Tiffany Teal Blue eh? Looks a little garish for my liking.
Playing with Photoshop I think I've decided on either Anthracite, or being brave and going for something like "Oil Bronze" or "Aged Copper". (Rust-Oleum do All Surface sprays...just not sure how they'd take to an alloy wheel.)
Still haven't finished preparing them yet though!!
One of these...roughly...
Anthracite

Aged Copper

Oiled Bronze

Go for the aged
Any colour will stand out nice on a black car. Is your lowred?
Try photoshopping them 1st

I'm leaning towards the Aged Copper, I must admit. Not *too* standouty, but different.
It's not lowered, no...just a standard, run-of-the-mill, "off the peg", GTD.
-
Until its lowered I don't think it'd look right. Dropped though and it begins to stand out and it comes together. Lots of the cars out there with non standard wheels look crap when the cars are running stock ride height etc. just my opinion. Keep em as close to original with a twist. Anthracite can look right. And don't forget most come in different shades. Go for a lighter version or mix with a lighter paint.

I know what you mean, dTEA. However, the GTD is slightly lower than other standard Golfs anyway, and I'm not (yet) planning to lower it further. I guess this is why I don't want to go for anything too outlandish with the Monzas...I just want something subtle and different and personal to me.
