Title: steering column

My steering column has developed a cracking sound when turning mostly left sound is coming from the ignition key/ lock area thinking it could be the bearing!?
Any thoughts or had the same problem?

electrical or mechanical sound?

Definitely mechanical you can feel it throu the steering wheel!
