Title: first type 19
Post by: myv8growler on 16 February 2013, 19:38
hi peeps.
I have posted a hello in the new members section, but I want to get cracking with my new car and could really do with some help and suggestions.
This is a pic of my car after I collected it today.

I am looking at

changing the wheels (not sure what for at the moment)
getting rid of the monster truck suspension
taking off the factory go faster stripe (mixed feelings about that)
single light grille
clear headlights
shiny rear exhaust box.

and thats about it.
Its really quite standard and unmessed with so I dont want to spoil it.

Any advice on lowered springs, adjustable coilovers, any pics of your wheels to give me an idea of what looks like what would be helpful.

it its unmessed and original, why de-stripe it and change the grill

nice wheels and a drop like you said - the just improve it cosmetically :afro:

I only want to change a bolt on, bolt off part such as the grille.
I wanted opinions on the stripe as I like it, but the wife doesn't!

Isn't the stripe a sign of good original body work?

thats a good point, one I had not thought about

how easy is it to fit adjustable coilovers?
Is if difficult getting the ride height and level sorted too?

I'd love to put coilovers on mine but I live in a court with stupid hideously high drop kerbs, in standard hight I still scrape the bottom splitter on mine even going slow. Very frustrating!!!!

Been out in the sunshine all day playing with some bodywork products.

This is pre-wash

This is after a good wash and leather.

This is a pic of the dull faded paint on the rear near the lights. You can't really tell but there were patches like this all over.

Out comes the t-cut

Now my favourite product at the moment is

This is a good thick covering. I do all windows except the windscreen. The rain just beads off them.

really nice paint for a car of its age! well done fella, as said id go for shocks and springs, i had eibach springs on mine and they were sh!t hot, got coils now tho and they are cack, ride is too crashy, cant wait to get some decent shocks and eibach springs again.

i wouldnt take it too low on coils it makes cars so hard to live with.

looks nice and original, dont change it!
