Title: thermostat change
Post by: supramad77 on 15 February 2013, 21:36
Did the stat today what a bain to get at. Had to take of the alternator of and the tensoner to access the lower bolt. What a sh!t design. Ran out of day light today. Just have to figure out how to refit the tensoner  tomorrow. Hope it does not leak as the new stat did not have the right gasket so i had to reuse the old one.

Just done mine today didnt have to take alternator off either. Did you use a 10mm socket?? If you take the dipstick holder out (gently) and the 8mm nut off back of alternator so you can remove the thin wires makes it easier. No good hearing this now though but if theres a next time might help
I had three types of rubber gaskets that came with the new Thermostat, none of which really matched the original. I used one of the gaskets it came with and didnt leak but I did c**p myself incase it was going too!

yea did all that and think the nut was slightly rounded just could not get any bite on it. Got quite a few tools enough to take a supra apart completely.
