I bought a Vgate diagnostic tool a fews back. The lead was compatible with my 2003 Polo TDi, but when I tried to connect to my VW Golf Mk3 GTI AGG the pin head was too big.
Unfortunately I'm working Offshore at the moment and not back until next week. I was hopeing to buy a new cable off Ebay for my Golf before I get home.
Does anyone know what cable I need to buy?
Cheers.

If it's an early Mk3 e.g. 1992 1993 then it needs a 2x2 adaptor for your lead.

It's a 1997 on a P plate.

The lead I have for Mk3/Mk4 etc. would physically fit the connector on a 2013 vehicle, not that it would work on those vehicles.
Which product do you have from Vgate? It looks like one of their VAG tools is only for CAN bus, meaning it won't work on a Mk3.

I have the Vgate VS 450, with OBD2 lead.

my hand scanner is canbus and fits and reads all vw's with obd2 port onwards (I have scanned from 1995 to 2012 cars with mine)
mines not a Vgate but looking at the specs is should be/is identical.
