bit late to be worrying about this now but im having a custom 3'' downpipe with 3'' decat with flanges wleded to the oem cat and flanges onto the downpipe and jetex system that way i have a plug in/drop out decat/cat set up.
but i have 2 o2 sensors now obv thinking ahead
http://www.awesomegti.com/car/vw/golfmk4/42-draft-designs-o2-sensor-spacer
this would be fine. but untill this arrives.....the engine light im sure will come on with the decat tommorow. this doesnt bother me BUT will this cause car to go into limp mode etc?
-
A headache is what reading this gave me. *in voice of yoda*
-
think a spacer on the 2nd lambda should prevent engine light coming on, shouldnt go into limp mode even if it does throw up a fault code
-
I hope not.
-
I've been running a decat for at least 5k miles and haven't had the engine management light thrown up yet
-
probly from the little i know only the agu aint fussy with atmos dump valves and de cats
-
Mines a aum so a sneeze sets the light on lol

Well we going to struggle getting the oem cat to fit the custom down pipe. So going to fit a drop in drop out free flowing cat.
-
Take a trip to the dyno, test the decat vs. the high flow cat.
Will show you if there is a gain to be had
-
Only using cat for mot time rest ill be drving catless
-
my ARZ has got the ebay special on it and its fine no engine lgiht thrown up yet just a lovely noise to annoy the neighbours

Engine light now on gay AUMS :-(
-
is that with the 2nd lambda spaced out?
-
Yer it comes in at angle higher out. Unless they done far enough?
-
My mates AUM has been running this exhaust for a few months now with no issues other than breaking the rear Lambda
-
I have just fitted a n249 delete and 3" turbo back with decat to me aum golf and it's brought the light on and gone I to limp mode. Any ideas
-
unscrew lambda and tie it up out the way. Or get it mapped out properly.
Old thread but sticking a OEM cat on a decat downpipe is utterly pointless.
