Bit the bullet and booked myself in for a remap.
I've raised the car slightly today as I was told to do so..! Anyone had any problems getting onto the rollers?
I can't remember exactly but I'm sure he told me to have 97 Ron or above for when I arrive, anyone have any recommendations for what fuel to use?
Any tips and hints would be great, I'm a little nervous
-
Tesco momentum highest Ron you can buy 99

Or v power which is also 99 Ron
-
Anyone know how much fuel they actually use doing the remap?
-
I'd use Vpower. I used to use Momentum 99 until the moment I found out the way tesco get the 99 rating....With ethanol....They use normal fuel, add ethanol and get 99RON.
Shell make Vpower separately from it's normal fuels, it's a true 99RON fuel. Since switching to Vpower I've noticed smoother running and better response. Only downside is it's a little bit more expensive.
-
I can't afford a trip over to Portsmouth every time I need fuel though lol

V Power makes single handedly the mos difference in the SDI. Any increase at all is nice but really does make a difference, on hills where 60 might of been possible, it will surge up to 85MPH.
Literally unbelievable the difference it makes. I have a feeling something in it has cleaned out the fuel system as it runs so much quieter.

I don't know why but that sounded so sarcastic!

Theres no shell garages on the i-o-w madness!

It's not for once.
I did wonder why the SDI was quite as slow as it was and it genuinely seems to have improved things. I have to hold my hands up and say I've never researched fuels and don't really understand how they make higher RON stuff but I wonder if it has, as I said helped clean the fuel system out.
Put half a tank in as there was nothing else in the place and really noticed a difference by quarter of a tank.
-
I like using Shell V Power but it is the price that puts me off using it as much as I like, is nearly 10p a litre more where I am.

I ha mine done last month there you hardly notice how much fuel it uses takes around three hours in total to do but well worth the wait a huge improvement over standard .Great guys as well
-
Vpower is only 97?
-
Vpower is only 97?
thats the old rating, now 99
-
I got on their rollers with ~40mm drop with H&R springs no problem
Take a magazine, or two, and a jacket!
-
Old vpower was 101 then down to 99 gor donkeys now v power has alot of additives proven to clean the fuel system which is good but what you pay for. Other high ron doesnt have the added cleaners etc.
So im told

One more sleep! Gotta be up at 6 for the journey though .
One thing, I read their website and thought they supplied and fitted 007p's. but after receiving an email they don't do them anymore. Is it a requirement when you have a remap? Don't think my standard valve is up to it tbh.
-
After reading a few threads I'm getting a bit worried. Please could someone help!
-
I had my car done last week niki and Ben are sound guys what you worried about mate
-
I don't have a new recirc and I had an email saying they don't supply them anymore :undecided:
-
I'm sure if yours isn't upto the map they will take one off one of there cars just for the map then you will have to pick a new oo7p up soon as possible why haven't you rung Ben up and asked him mate
-
Only received the email when I got home from work. Only have the business number. I can't exactly ring first thing in the morning either as I'm setting off at 6!
-
Another tip mate fill up with shell before you leave as I couldn't find a garage near r tech with super plus only a bp. Well worth the 3 hours your guna be there though and no more than 10 pound will be used in fuel on the rollers. Nice butty bar round the corner aswel :-)
-
So I should be fine then?! Just don't wanna get there and get turned away/ wasting their time etc. I've got half a tank of tesco sh!te in atm though so was hoping to use that to get there and find a shell when I'm there! Did you get on the rollers ok?
-
I had to lift my cool overs up 12 full turns from say a 70mm drop r tech have a page on face book added them niki is on the chat most times you might get to ask him tonight about your dv mate
-
I think ill be ok. I'm not that low at all. Can always sort them out when I get there if I can't get on I suppose. Already raised them last week by about an inch. I just sent a message so fingers crossed! Thanks bud
-
No worries enjoy it mate money well spend the difference when r tech map ur car is night and day
-
All done. Made 201bhp and 225 lbs torque. Pretty impressed with the map.
-
This on a k03??
If so that's great results!
-
if its a AUM engine it has a ko3s turbo an its pretty much bang on if its not had many engine mods, stage 1.
-
Oh yeah didn't see the signature! Haha
I it's jut standard it sounds about right
-
Good result :afro:
You manage to get a dv sorted in the end?
-
It's transformed the car. It's an animal. I can't think how you 230+ boys must feel like!
Dom- standard dv held up. Will get a 008 or something similar soon though. Along with a decat etc.
Cars completely standard apart from a CAI so I was pretty impressed. They also mapped it on 95ron fuel as I made a mistake . Feels better now after a full tank of vpower.
I didn't get to speak to the lads a lot though as they were extremely busy!
Been up since 5 so I'm pretty dead now!
-
how low is your car? you get it on the rollers ok mate?
-

It's on coilovers pretty low, got on no probs.
-
201 bhp is not bad for a pretty much standard car, it just show u dont need loads of mods for a basic tune up that u will feel the differences on. with a de-cat an a 4.0 bar fuel pressure regulator i reckon u would be looking at 230+bhp. i cant wait to get my golf mapped.
-
You don't want a 4bar fpr...just filter exhaust fmic and tip and you will be past 230bhp

^^^^^^ in ur opinion, hes got a cai (cold air intake) already.
-
It's not just opinion... It's based on evidence from previous tests
Ahh or got he had a filter!
Recirc valve, exhaust, pipes, tip, fmic it is then

You don't need a 4bar fpr for "Stage 2".
-
All depends on the mapper. Prawny still runs a 3bar on his 320bhp. It also strains the standard fuel pumps if they are old and weak...
-
Still loving the map. Can't believe the power difference.
What do you guys recommend to strengthen the map, decat and 007p?
-
3" downpipe, De-cat, Forge 007/008
-
Ideally you want it all on there before the mapping is done
-
Ideally you want it all on there before the mapping is done
Bit late don't you think?
-
Well to get te most out of any extra mods you will need to har the mapped changed and tweeked.
So next steps are full zaust, pipes and stuff like tip, recor valve, fmic then tweek to the map ( would also reccomend WMI)
-
I wasn't planning on spending any more money on it. Just a nice stage 1 map! That's why I didn't fit an exhaust, tip, front mount etc before the map. But now I've had it done I can see why all of you lot keep spending!
-
 it's all personal preference I guess!
Just get a recirc to keep it reliable
-
How to you get on with traction mate? It spins up quite a bit, not sure if its normal!?
-
Not to bad tbh mate
Good tyres make a big difference
And it's very cold remember!
It's spins in first but will hold in second unless it very cold.
-

Turn it off........... Learn to control the throttle, It will feel so much quicker.
-
He didn't say anything about traction control haha
But yeah I turn it off haha
-
Mine spins in second, but yeah it's been 2 degrees today so I don't expect that helped!

I don't mean traction control, I just mean planting your foot down and getting wheel spin in second at 4k revs!
-
What tyres have you got?
Check the pressures too.
-
Bridgestone potenzas on front, michelin pilot sport 3's on the rear. So not cheap sh!t!
Will check pressures though that's a good point
-
Thinking about it over te past few month mine has been spinning up quite a lot in second
It's better in the summer though!
-
I'm running Falken 452's and regularly spin up in 2nd at the moment. During the summer they are much better, but as said previously, you'll learn to not plant it in 1st or even 2nd. It's all about getting the balance right
