Title: Advice needed
Post by: squirrel86 on 13 February 2013, 16:43
Hi all, after some advice please? I've been reading various threads on here and I've noticed a lot of people have removed the SAI, would basically like to know what is involved with doing this and what are the benefits? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have a AGU if that makes any difference.

Mine was already removed when I got my car so cant say about any bonus really

I have read while browsing people say less pipes so less chances of leaks so probably worth doing imo

Any ideas where I will find it as I'm unsure as to whether its been done on mine or not.

I believe its at the front end of engine above where the oil filter is. If yours has been deleted the there be quite a bit of space there. Also mines an AUM so not sure how different an AGU is mate

It looks like this, (Taken from a picture Rio-Gti posted in the "For sale section")

Mine used to make a massive ammount of noise on startup but I took mine off and repaired it :)

All i know, it apprantly is used for the 1st 90 sec or so when you start your engine. it pumps extra air into the engine for cold starts, (Ment to help with the running of the engine when its cold) then it turns off when its job is complelte I have also been told that it has something to do with emissions?

But I have never hered about deleting it or the benifits from doing so.

It  warms the cat when cold is all, pointless if you have a sports cat or de cat and it's deceivingly heavy for something you don't need, when one of the pipes on it split, get rid if not keep it on
Pipes are rediculously priced from vw

It can make a difference but if it is not noisy I would leave it be.

I think it's best to have one, so as you don't have one as standard buy mine and bolt it on

I removed it as I don't have a cat to Pre-warm
