Thoughts on the system and brand? I know a few race teams use it.
Specs are
Front silencer 16" long and 3.5" round, bullet style silencer
Middle silencer is 8" by 8" by 4", oval shape
Backbox is 16" long by 8.5" by 8.5". Twin 3" exit.

This seems to be the system, found it on ebay.
The only worrying thing is that it's mild steel, but then again it'd take years to rust as per the one in the picture.

Both are the same diameters, and we all know the GTI's use the same mounting points and exhaust paths. So where's the £16 difference?
I think I might buy a system...

Don't know anything about that system, whats up with the one you got as it sounds ace!
-
dont like them, loud and dont look great at all, look at the gap between the tailpipes
expensive too is that for mild, id pay a bit more and get a Jetex Stainless

Not keen on Jetex, purely because of the weight of the system, very very heavy so I've heard. But you are right there is a gap I'm not keen on at the backbox :undecided:

Reason for change is the middle silencer has always had a tinny sound around 2500rpm and the exhaust has been leaking at the connector for ages, repairs only seem to last a month or so.
-
Sorted, bought a supersprint centre pipe to delete the silencer.
£65 new online
Credit card is taking a hammering today, bought new oil and filter too
-
Sound, you will have to do another vid that's gona be lOUD lol
-
I won't be as bad as the system I had a few years ago. That was straight through except a tiny and I mean tiny backbox. That was fecking loud! I'll get another vid up at some point
-
When i bought my valver it had a ashley system on it and like the pictures it rusted and eventually the back box fell off so i bought a different system which so far is doing very well and shouldn't rust being stainless
-
Will it be too loud for the m.o.t with the centre box deleted?
-
Ashley exhausts are ok but aimed at the cheaper end of the market, would not be my choice.
-
I bloody hate them with the mid box removed, its how i used to have mine and it just sounded like a chav haha
folk used to laugh at it so it had to go.
I now prefer to be able to hear the engine and Turbo over a constant groan from the rear end
-
It's a shame you can't get Sebring any longer as ive been more than satisfied with mine and the tailpipes design is rather smart and descrete.

As I said mine in the past had 1 small backbox only, I might go for a small straight silencer if it's way too loud but I think it'll be ok, the current backbox is mahoosive.

Sounds perfect  sell yours?

don't know much about this exhaust but i read recently that having a full stainless system is better for performance over a mild steel system.. apparently stainless keeps the heat in better creating a higher velocity flow. anyone know if this is actually true?

I doubt it very much. I bet both metals would read the same temperature after 1 hour of driving.
Titanium on the other hand....
-
Stainless dont rust! So will last longer than the car!
-
I've bought a stainless centre section. It's the centre pipe with a small silencer and a middle pipe with another small silencer. Should sound pretty sweet.
-
Golf's should sound a bit deeper than standard but not too loud, just sounds daft.
-
Will these ashley exhausts fail an mot ?
-
If its properly fitted and damage/leak free i can't see why it would fail.

I'm sure they can't fail exhausts on MOT?.

of course they can
-
Only if they're excessively loud and/or not in decent condition. However they don't have DB meters so I don't know how they test that...
-
Testers discretion.
-
My old vts failed for being loud. That had a jatex
Think they was trying to tell me something. They hate saxo chavs
