Title: Will it work for wheels
Post by: car_maniac on 11 February 2013, 23:13
I want to strip the chrome from some wolfrace alloys but don't know what material they are made from.
Some is bad enough to pull off by hand but the rest, no chance

I've found on youtube that Hydrochloric acid (muriatic acid) can dissolve chrome off of plastics like bits of trim etc  but will it start dissolving the wheels too?

Not your usual vee dub Q

Good thing I decided to look into it a bit then or I would have turned my wheels into purple soup lol

Guess I'll just have to sand them down unless theres some other way to do it from home?

HAHA!! I like that. Really would like some new wheels but any I like are way up in the hundreds before tyres.
Trarted stripping the chrome with a sanding disk on an orbital polisher then just gonna spray em up black
