Title: Sensor Problem?
Post by: RichardBaronGolf on 10 February 2013, 14:58
Hi everyone,

I have a slight problem with my Mk3 golf gti 16v. Whenever I turn the car over no matter if its already warmed up the autochoke will come on is this normal? It does eventually drop down to normal idle.

Also I pulled up to my drive today and noticed the idle seems slightly lumpy not badly but it was moving up and down slightly! I have a blow in my exhaust at the moment its at the flange on the downpipe and I am going to have welded this week could this be causing the lumpy idle?

I did try putting it on my mechanics diagnostic machine but it wouldn't pick it up :(

It's probably the idle stabilisation valve (ISV). Hook it out and soak it in petrol overnight, dry it, spray a little bit of WD40 down the holes and stick it back in and see if it's any better.

Check the wires from the tb that run behind the intake above the exhaust mani as they go crispy and earth out .
