Evening all..
Just wondered if any of you knowledgeable lot know how I can raise my rev limit..?
Its an 8v with a crossflow head that's been worked, and everything else associated.
Thanks in advance.
-
Why do you want it raised?
Get it on a rolling road and only if peak power is made at rev limit should you raise it.
Man thing to shift the power curve is the cam, changed that?
-
Yup, got the cam, adjustable pulley, flowed head, all ti gear. Lightened fly, bike carbs... think it would be making peak power at top end of my rev limit... Open to being told otherwise.
-
Doubt it. My old cammed 8v made power only a few hundred rpm after standard. Get it on a dyno and see
-
Ok chaps.. No harm in asking.
-
Fair play might be worth a extra 1000 rpm but you'll need to change valve springs I would of thought.
-
Its all ready for it Tweed, heads good for well above standard.
-
Get on it then buh. Sounds like you need a chip and map to get the best from it but fear the gain won't be worth the money.
-
I'm debating putting it on megajolt and plumbing the TPS on the carbs so.... Would that deal with the rev limit for me? Not to knowledgeable about the standalone management stuff if anyone can help? Logical money has gone out of the window.. Would have been as cheap to put a 20v in it by now. I want it set up as best I can?
-
Need to stick it on a dyno to see where you are and if you need to raise it, have you set up the vernier properly?
-
No not yet. Still haven't finished the build. Just speculating. Waiti g to see if it will run on my management. If not ill megajolt it then its off to Bogg Bros to have the carbs set up. And megajolt if applicable. Then need to set the cam. Am I right?
-
From when I did my cam it was out by half a tooth. You don't need a dyno to set it.
-
What 8v are you using?.. AGG?.. put some pictures up as i've not seen many mk3's on bike carbs.
-
Rodger. I'll have a look when I get it all running.

Will do when I build it back up mate. It's in pieces ATM being painted!
EDIT: 2E block AKL head.
-
Put pics up anyway
I thought you was running the agg head too. You got the cross flow head from merica?
-
So thats a 1.6 head on US spec 2 litre bottom end?
-
Yup 1.6 head.. Well the heads are same size internally. Valves are the same size as the old head..
And 2E is early 8v. Erm I'll get some pictures of the bits if I can remeber how!

Here's the latest picture.. The engine is now painted, I might take some more pics if your all nice to me.

Not going to need a lot more revs than standard tbh, around 6750 is the max I would run on a standard bottom end.
-
I would like to see more.

Interesting project..
