the water pipes feel quite cool even after a hour of driving heater gets warm fans on the rad kick in !!!
could the stat be stuck open ???
will it cause me any probs driving it like this only just bought the car lol
funds are low is the stat behind the cam belt??? not sure
-
its on the front of the block, near the middle, will cost you about £13-16 for a new part and you can change it yourself with the correct tools, Id do it if I were you otherwise you have no idea if your car is over heating or not.
-
defo the stat, had the same issue, had my temp sender replaced too.
it wont cause any issues but you as already said, you wont konw if your car is over heating.
-
thanks guys will get one from tps tomorrow
-
If it goes up one bar it should keep going in theory, check the wiring first, I have seen a few of these with temperamental wiring, I have had to plug / unplug some 4 or 5 times before they work

surely if the pump as F**ed car would over heat??
-
Yer open the expansion tank cap and see if the water being pumped back in to the tank with a few revs on and it may be a faulty thermostat even after a year
-
well my water pumps back in the header tank after a few revs I shell go get a stat tomorrow and if the weather hold off might have ago at changing it will I need gasket sealer as well??
-
It a rubber seal u may get it with the stat.. But if you get it from vow I think you have to buy on might be wrong on that tho
-
replaced stat today what a pig got there in the end. temp comes up to 90 now after a short run
the bottom hose seems to stay cold for a very long time and the top hose red hot is this normal
after a good while the bottom hose gets just as hot is this because the stat has opened ?? hope so
