hi guyz, new to dis forum. Have a 1990 gti 8v with problems. It just seems to enjoy jerking, stopping[engine] suddenly in the middle of traffic. Ive just installed new fuel pumps, filter and cleaned tank, but problem persists.
2nd;the headlamps start off bright then end up like candlelight, making visibility almost nill.
Any help?

Hi
Not sure if this will help at all....
I had a mk3 golf, it would cut out at anytime, no matter is it was hot cold going fast or slow. Turned out to be the distributor...new one sorted the problem :0)

could be an intermitten fault in the charging system. Sounds funny but I had an alternator on one of my old jalopies that used to get warm and cut out for some reason from time to time. it would then leave the car running solely off the battery which it would drain almost instantly with the radio, lights, and engine running. Just a though.
