Title: Im all outta love!
Post by: drc12369 on 06 February 2013, 17:08
Christ my motors nothing but a ball ache. Got the car in october had an oil n filter change, changed the whole cam belt set up, did the air filter, cabin filter, ht leads, spark plugs, dissy cap, spent even more cash of sorting all the exhaust gaskets but it didnt stop the annoying noise when you accellerate? topped up powrr steering fluid, brake fluid, fresh anti freeze even a set of new rear brake pads bought which turns out it didnt need. Now its failed thr mot as its got seized calipers and needs 3/4 hours of welding. Gonna cost me another £400 i aint got. And 2 of the 4 windows still dont bloody work lol fkin mare

Well its gonna be a very short ownership at this rate. I was after a reliable car. Guess i shoulda bought a boring honda for the 3rd time. Looks like mk3's are only good if your a mechanic or more money than sense. And im neither. Still wallowing in woe

Without meaning to be harsh, this situation could arise after buying any car if you buy a sh!tter...

well the first and only real advice when buying ANY mk3 - buy on condition of the shell - and lack of rust

rust must have been there when ya purchased it  :lipsrsealed:

Mines gunna be the same, and I also dispise my car...till the right foot goes down :D

What noise? Mk3s do have a noise when accelerating, bit like a leak.  Seen a few threads about it and nobody knew why!

It may be a money pit at the moment, but perseverance will bring a decent car thatll last a long time!

Who quoted you for welding? If it was the mot place I'd get a couple of quotes...

Manifold normally

Not the manifold. Cost me £180 to discover that. They took it apart with its seizd bolts replaced the gaskets n nothing. Still a stupid noise. If my primera gt hadnt been written off whilst parked by an old biddy in a landrover we wouldnt even be having this conversation

In fairness, once the welding is done you'll have a solid car that should last a good while. I know mine will need the sills doing this year, and the rear arches are fooked, but I love the thing.

Air Supply sang I'm all outa Love.

Mine has been great! Had it 10 years now and no major work done on it, except stuff I changed and the sills that only needed doing due to being crushed by garages jacking in the wrong place!
