Hi,
Unlock car, open passenger door, after about 30 secs its started randomly relocking itself? Don't seem to be every time. Is this something its meant to do and I never noticed or classic door module failure, ie dodgy soldering? I'll try it again a few times before commiting to stripping the door down for a fix.

Yep soldering!!!
Don't unlock then get in that side, throw the keys in then shut the door and walk round unless you got a spare!!!
-
Not always soldering, could be a faulty microswitch
I took mine apart a few weeks ago & the solder looked fine, I re-soldered it anyway and it didn't solve it.

The interior handle still activates the puddle light, the exterior one deffo doesn't anymore as I've tried it a dozen times.
Right.... :embarrassed:
I took the exterior handle off last week to repaint it, have I broken something taking it out or not put it back on correctly?
BALLLLLS!!!!!

Just noticed that opening the suspect door from the inside still activates the puddle light?.... One last chance I thought was that the cable wasn't set right on the outer handle so I reset that further back... nope, still no light when opening the door from outside
Would all this further clarify this is the same old issue, with the same old microswitch and the same old dodgy soldering in the module.

I got a spare passenger front module (lock) laying around its the all black version.works fine.i ordered a drivers front and the idiots sent me that haha wasnt happy after stripping the door down only to have to do it again

I've had 3 of my door modules go man down since I've had my golf, 1 would lock at all, 1 kept unlocking itself and the other just didn't register when it was open (no courtesy lights) they all were down to dodgy solder.

Would the issue with the passenger door also affect function of the interior lights? Now got an intermittent problem with all the interior lights! Operate the little buttons up on the light unit or the visor vanity mirror switch, and no lights come on, but instead the door open symbol lights up on the dash? Turn the light switch or button off and the dash thing goes out again? Wierd! :undecided: CCM issue or more door module madness?
