Title: A question for the motorcyclerists - Now has Motorcycle
Post by: RandomJord on 05 February 2013, 20:32
Herro.

I've finally gone and booked my CBT for Friday as I'm getting a little 125 for the station commute and a bit of green laning every now and then

My question is this, I have to do the CBT on a 125 auto scooter. Will that mean I have to carry on riding an auto afterwards?

I've never ridden an auto either. Happy days!

Its always been said CBT on auto, ride auto. Do manual ride both! But there is a form the instructor fills in he might write auto or leave it blank, but if he has left it blank then in theory you can ride both as its upto you? I would go by the paper work but you should learn manual fella!

Then its academic RJ don't matter auto is twist the throttle and go, to stop brake
I hate auto it kicks down either too late or too fast, never when you want it.
The instructor form is just info as to what your ride was hence they rarely tick the box as the know most will learn gears regardless or stick with auto.
The consensus is more for people who have never ridden on a manual, but took there test on a auto bike ( This doesn't apply to you as you have ridden manual before at somepoint its more of a point for 16 year olds ride first time)

I asked this same question. As I had a50 geared bike when I was 16. But they told me that it dosnt matter. So I had to do it ona ghay 50 ped.

No mate cbt is just that - compulsory basic training. You do it on a scootay, but covers all 125's manual or auto.

If you were to do a full scooter test then you would only be allowed to ride auto.

For example at 16 I did my cbt on a scootay they provided, but rode a 50cc dirt bike with 6 (useless gutless) gears.
