Post by: Felton on 05 February 2013, 16:03
Ok guys so I've fitted the exhaust today and come to the back box it sits really high up in the bumper so I carnt get the tip pipe on how have u guys gone about it or is it just the way I've fitted it cheers for your help guys

Do you mean can't get the tip on with the standard bumper and valance?
As you won't get it on it isn't a discreet look exhaust ou either need a Anni valance or to cut a hole in your standard one like me and many others have or you can get a 3" downturn that you bolt on in place of the supplied tip.

Post by: rio_gti on 05 February 2013, 16:53
yup standard valance will need cutting, take your time and it will look good... or as golfyste has done get a 3" 45 bend on the end and keep it discreet

Cool thought I'd put it on wrong lol think I mite just leave it without one I won't do any harm not having the back tip on will it guys and it sounds awesome lol

melted bumper? nah should be alright although to be honest, if you cut the valance it does look quite good especially when its got the diagonal cut to it

You might melt your bumper/valance, you need to direct the exhaust flow down really.

It will melt the bumper, My mate did the same thing as he didn't want to cut the valance.

Title: Re: Calling 3inch eBay exhaust guys
Post by: Prawny on 07 February 2013, 13:17
not only will it melt the bumper, but it'll also trap the gasses in the rear bumper, and as you drive along they will find their way in through joints and grommets and panel gaps, and after a few hours in the car you will feel very sick.

Bad idea to run it as is, exhaust gasses must escape from behind the car.

Post by: vwgolfnut on 16 February 2013, 18:30
Can someone please put a couple of pics of one of these systems fitted please. Really interested in buying one as they seem great value and quality but I want to see how they sit at the rear valance.

I see you get two tailpipes with it......ones a bit longer? What's this about?

Just had a good read an look at the pics.......@wazzer system looks good and I don't mind a bit of a rip out of it as long as it not takin the p***.

Take it the issue over the rear beams to do with it being 3" as opposed to the smaller standard size pipe.....or is it heavier? Seems from comments here there may be one or two little issues fitting, but for the money I think it's gotta be worth it as your even getting the 3" down pipe!!
Title: Re: Calling 3inch eBay exhaust guys
Post by: Felton on 17 February 2013, 02:55
Deffo worth it mate mine was really loud to start with then the other day I fitted the tip and sorted out the clamps sounds so much nicer than the cut up exhaust that was on it when I got it lol and looks good out the back aswell so well worth the money in my eyes :)

Title: Re: Calling 3inch eBay exhaust guys
Post by: Wazzzer on 18 February 2013, 09:04
Yeah the rear beam only has about 4" above it so you don't have much room for error. All I'm getting is a slight rattle now and then from the clamp on the rear beam. Easily solved with a bit of rubber wrapped over the beam itself, I just need to get under the car to do it

Mine rattles on back beam! Argh

SAME!!!! If I ever get onto a ramp soon it'll take 2 seconds to move the clamp forward a few mm.... Or use a miklor clamp as then it shouldn't touch the beam (its just the clamp touching not the actual exhaust itself)

Question, will this effect the o2 sensor? over fueling or under?
Title: Re: Calling 3inch eBay exhaust guys
Post by: xtetx on 02 May 2013, 11:59
I know that AGU should be ok as it doesn't have a sensor after the cat, but I have AUM and it has a sensor either side, so it brings up a light on the clocks as it thinks the cat is broken, when in reality, its not there.

Title: Re: Calling 3inch eBay exhaust guys
Post by: mar_k on 05 May 2013, 10:41
I think the system could be improved on with a few minor adjustments.

The slip joins are quite baggy, would be better if the outer sleeve was a bit tighter fitting. That would
cure most of the blows that this system suffers.

Also the rear join could be changed to a bolt together section with 2 flanges as the current design seems to twist loose every now and then.

Who can comment on the loudness of this?

I hate, hate, hate stupid exhausts - the Polo had bike carbs and a straight through to a standard back box.  It was totally quiet around town, wouldn't suspect a thing.  Then all hell would break loose when I gave it the beans.

I like that.  I like being quiet, and when it needs to be, loud.

But, what's this like?  I can't be bothered being drowned out on a motorway, making a racket when I leave for work at 5am and that.

I like rasp, and I like loud when the loud pedal is pressed.

Is this too mucho?

HAs anyone removed the silencer before the 90 degree bend?

Also has anyone added a 3" silencer tip on the back box?

How would the noise level of this compare to a Jetex or Miltek system?

the miltek anni without mid box and decat toyo sport DP is pretty awesome, after getting my motor back on the road decided to treat myself with some suprise cash and got this set up new.

absolutely amazing sound when giving it the beans, real clean note with a irregular pop

also not "OMG whos that coming around the corner" loud like the 3" system, actually managed to creep up to my mates house and left the engine running whilst we were talking out side and he didnt notice the new exhaust until i wellied it out on the main road  :lipsrsealed:

basically if you want a quiter exhaust get a Milltek. This is rather loud but it sounds sick under load. You can live with it, I don't batter my car so I don't think its that bad! When its cold it seems to be louder haha.

There is a lad who uploaded a few videos, I think the links are in this thread earlier on.

yeh i fitted it in less than an hour with mid exhaust rubber replaced as well. if you have the sensor after CAT you'll need a spacer. i think i spent about 460-470 on the whole set up, send us your whatsapp buddy, you may need to put it right up next to your ear and concentrate but you'll get the idea

Spacers arn't really the solution lads, you MIGHT get away without an EML for a while, maybe even for a long time, but ultimately, if you've decatted an AUM / AUQ, you'll get a light on unless you have the threshold altered in the map.

AGu on the other hand, knock yourselves out, no lights for you boys :)

I'm surprised to hear people saying they're loud still, I push 350bhp of gas through mine and it's no louder than a non res miltek at all!
Title: Re: Calling 3inch eBay exhaust guys
Post by: davemk4 on 21 August 2013, 11:48
Ive heard tge 3" systems and sound alot louder than milktek both louder and completly different sound imo.

Stage 2 they can map out the eml issue cant they?
Title: Re: Calling 3inch eBay exhaust guys
Post by: Prawny on 21 August 2013, 12:05
that's the thing dave, Mine isn't loud, at all, it sounds very similar to my old non res miltek, and not at all intrusive. very strange.

Anyone half decent at mapping can map out the EML, it doesn't have to be done as part of a 'stage 2' or anything, you can map it out on a standard car even.

Somewhere like R-tech or badger 5 are able to do it, I believe R-tech will even patch it into your existing map for a small fee mate.

generic st1 codes like revo and things can't do it though, only the people who actually write maps can do it for you :)

I had mine mapped out on a stock car before I even decatted it, knowing that I would do soon.

Post by: davemk4 on 21 August 2013, 12:58
Got a generic stage 1 but dying to sort stage 2 just wonderedcif can get away with a stage 2 then fit fmic later in year..... surley it will make the power just not hold the power due to heat?
Title: Re: Calling 3inch eBay exhaust guys
Post by: Prawny on 21 August 2013, 13:33
no, fmic is an absolute MUST for st2. Without an intercooler, what is it? just a stage 1 with too much boost and lots of heat?

nasty nasty. With inlet temps silly high from the stock SMIC the timing could never be optimised to see it's potential anyway, as even 1 single pull would have IAT's too high for the kind of timing a st2 map would typically run.

do it once and do it right mate :)

admittedly mines been in since end of may and no codes or lights etc. maybe one of the luck ones so far, may only go stage 1 on rtech as im not a power chaser but its nice to have if needed  :lipsrsealed:

what would i be looking at for a garret28 if i were to go that way? out of curiousity obviously
