Ok guys so I've fitted the exhaust today and come to the back box it sits really high up in the bumper so I carnt get the tip pipe on how have u guys gone about it or is it just the way I've fitted it cheers for your help guys
-
Do you mean can't get the tip on with the standard bumper and valance?
As you won't get it on it isn't a discreet look exhaust ou either need a Anni valance or to cut a hole in your standard one like me and many others have or you can get a 3" downturn that you bolt on in place of the supplied tip.
-
yup standard valance will need cutting, take your time and it will look good... or as golfyste has done get a 3" 45 bend on the end and keep it discreet
-
Cool thought I'd put it on wrong lol think I mite just leave it without one I won't do any harm not having the back tip on will it guys and it sounds awesome lol
-
melted bumper? nah should be alright although to be honest, if you cut the valance it does look quite good especially when its got the diagonal cut to it
-
Cool thought I'd put it on wrong lol think I mite just leave it without one I won't do any harm not having the back tip on will it guys and it sounds awesome lol
You might melt your bumper/valance, you need to direct the exhaust flow down really.
-

It will melt the bumper, My mate did the same thing as he didn't want to cut the valance.
-
Thing is when I say high it means I will have to cut valence and bumper as it sits high up is that rite guys has anyone got a pic of how they have done there's cheers guys
-
Have you put a new exhaust rubber on? Give a week or two and it will settle a bit
-
Yer a new one not the very back but the one after that I have mate lol
-
Mine was cut with my Miltec! Didn't look to bad tbh I'll see if I have a pic

Or a r tech 1/4 mile killer
(http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/uu109/tobe1990/a777e237.jpg)
-
Yer if u could mate cheers
-
See mine would have to be further up than that and cut into the bumper and the valence if that makes sence lol
-
Mine...
Let the rubbers settle a little mate and it will sit lower
-
Ok cool mate cheers for that I will leave it a couple of days then try again lol as it is its a lot higher than that
-
Loosen the clamps at the back and give it a bit of a twist :undecided:
-
Tried that earlier mate mite have to have a play with it when I'm next off lol
-
not only will it melt the bumper, but it'll also trap the gasses in the rear bumper, and as you drive along they will find their way in through joints and grommets and panel gaps, and after a few hours in the car you will feel very sick.
Bad idea to run it as is, exhaust gasses must escape from behind the car.
-
Can someone please put a couple of pics of one of these systems fitted please. Really interested in buying one as they seem great value and quality but I want to see how they sit at the rear valance.
I see you get two tailpipes with it......ones a bit longer? What's this about?
-
Think it might be for the estate version?
I had to use mine to make the centre section fit
-
Think wazzzer has some good photos in his project page
-
link is in my sig
-
Just had a good read an look at the pics.......@wazzer system looks good and I don't mind a bit of a rip out of it as long as it not takin the p***.
Take it the issue over the rear beams to do with it being 3" as opposed to the smaller standard size pipe.....or is it heavier? Seems from comments here there may be one or two little issues fitting, but for the money I think it's gotta be worth it as your even getting the 3" down pipe!!
-
Deffo worth it mate mine was really loud to start with then the other day I fitted the tip and sorted out the clamps sounds so much nicer than the cut up exhaust that was on it when I got it lol and looks good out the back aswell so well worth the money in my eyes :)
-
@felton did you get the fitting height thing sorted on it?
-
Yer all sorted mate if ur on about the tailpipe bit nothing a little bit of modding couldn't fix :)
-
I think that these exhausts are no longer :lipsrsealed:
-
Why u sat that Toby??
-
Yeah the rear beam only has about 4" above it so you don't have much room for error. All I'm getting is a slight rattle now and then from the clamp on the rear beam. Easily solved with a bit of rubber wrapped over the beam itself, I just need to get under the car to do it
-
Why u sat that Toby??
Didn't some one on here buy his last?
-
He's always gettin them in!! Apparently when I got mine he was gettin 100 of them in but only ever 2 or 3 on at a time
-

I see I see!!
I still have no use for onv

Let me if this works having same problem and wear to get the rubber that won't melt
-
The only rattle I have now is the middle heat shield has come loose lol so need to sort that next :)

-

-
can someone point me to a link for teh system u guys have fitted please :)
-
It's from jdmhondaparts on eBay mate there's a link knocking about on here somewhere if he has any in stock :)
-

same here! finally had it justified by having my exhaust blow a hole  role on saturday!
speaking of which can everyone let me know which clamps they used and how much heat wrap? i know the ones supplied are wank
-
I used mikalor clamps and exhaust assembly paste to stop it twisting
-

what diameter?

I would guess 3"

:embarrassed:
D!ckh£ad

never mind all im not having a brilliant day
-
-
Actually no, they need to be 80mm to take the flared join into account lol
-
80mm...
FML!
re-order!

glad i checked his ebay been waiting for him to get them in :)
-
Well the clamps have a vary in size say 75-80mm so you want the one that goes 3inch and bigger
-
Had mine fitted a good few months now and used the clamps they supplied and not had a prob with them :)
-
Mine rattles on back beam! Argh
-
Mine rattles on back beam! Argh
SAME!!!! If I ever get onto a ramp soon it'll take 2 seconds to move the clamp forward a few mm.... Or use a miklor clamp as then it shouldn't touch the beam (its just the clamp touching not the actual exhaust itself)
-
get under there with some heat wrap maybe?
-
Would it still not vibrate but without the noise??
-
oh yeh, atleast the noise is gone :lipsrsealed:
-
I'm running miklor clamps and its doing my nut in!
-
ok, Uclamps it is then :lipsrsealed:
-
a bit of rubber tie wrapped around the rear beam solves the rattling
-
Ordered mine say sat  just wanna no if the gaskets that come with the exhaust are ok to use or should i go get a new one from VW ?
-
should be ok tbh
also just found this, would it sit right for the exhaust?

mine turned up this morning super quick delivery not got it all out yet will do that in morning may even take car to work tomorrow ang fit it i get time :P
-
wish i could get mine fitted this weekend
-
im looking forward to doing mine :)
-
Mine came this morning  buzzin going to fit it friday
-
Question, will this effect the o2 sensor? over fueling or under?
-
I know that AGU should be ok as it doesn't have a sensor after the cat, but I have AUM and it has a sensor either side, so it brings up a light on the clocks as it thinks the cat is broken, when in reality, its not there.
-
anyway of getting around this?

u clamps and the above it is then though its weird how some dont break? :undecided:
-
well i done them up as tight as i could by hand and u could still twist the pipes so used the airgun and SNAP lol fotted 2 U clamps this morning and got rear one to do in the morning went for first drive tonight and its not as loud as i was thinking around town tbh but it is hitting the rear beam so will try adjusting it in morning :)
-
well did a quick trip today after a few adjustments and replacing the last clamp and all seems ok now apart from slight touching when going round a tight left bend lol , got up to 60mph and still dont seem loud to me but then again it might be im so used to my Evo 8 exhaust which was very loud lol
-
Na mate there not all that loud but sound nice when you give it some beans :)
-
i cant grikkin wait until next weekend now lol
-
:) is a very nice system is yours lowered ?
-
I think the system could be improved on with a few minor adjustments.
The slip joins are quite baggy, would be better if the outer sleeve was a bit tighter fitting. That would
cure most of the blows that this system suffers.
Also the rear join could be changed to a bolt together section with 2 flanges as the current design seems to twist loose every now and then.

no not yet, want to get engine sorted first, mates gonna help with my flywheel conversion etc, birthday end of the month so all donations to the GTi_James Charity fund are welcome :lipsrsealed: hahaha jokes

that sounds liek a good plan james and once u done should be real nice :) if mine was in better nick id do more to it but as it only cost me 600 its only a run around mainly
-
its taken 2 yrs and over 2k but its getting there lol
-
Bloody hell mate I've spent 2k on mine in the last 3months lol deffo recommend the ecs stage one clutch kit if your buying new that's what I have on mine :)
-
my motor was fecked by the last owner tbf, getting the sachs clutch conversion sorted, not chasing silly power to be honest, want mine driving straight and looking good with the option of power if i need it so it will be a spec 1 remap from rtech probs
-
Snap mate the ecs stage one consists of a sash clutch and things just a smf lightweight buddy still need to get mine mapped as I use it for work everyday so still has to be practical lol

typo, "And"

Who can comment on the loudness of this?
I hate, hate, hate stupid exhausts - the Polo had bike carbs and a straight through to a standard back box. It was totally quiet around town, wouldn't suspect a thing. Then all hell would break loose when I gave it the beans.
I like that. I like being quiet, and when it needs to be, loud.
But, what's this like? I can't be bothered being drowned out on a motorway, making a racket when I leave for work at 5am and that.
I like rasp, and I like loud when the loud pedal is pressed.
Is this too mucho?
-
id say its just nice, not too loud but a nice deep grumble on idle and a nice rasp when putting the foot down :).
-

Agreed
-
starting to wish id got this now instead of my Jetex i cannot believe how poor the back box is on these Jetex not as in finish and sound as both are fantastic but it will not fit straight and it knocks on the soring as the back box is so god dam stupidly big!!!!!
on another note i see no where got any 3'' kits left at mo

i didn't want a loud chav exhaust but i must admit this exhaust is brill...loud when you put your foot down.and not to loud when you don't...the only thing I don't like is the vibrating noise

Ah yes, that'll be the demand lol .
-
HAs anyone removed the silencer before the 90 degree bend?
Also has anyone added a 3" silencer tip on the back box?

Get a video up, I'm really curious! :)
-
Anyone got a video of this exhaust?
-
I haven't done one yet but I would love to here mine on a drive by... Just don't trust anyone to drive her!!!
-
How would the noise level of this compare to a Jetex or Miltek system?
-
Alot noiser the jetex and miltek use big oval boxes the 3" system though is a bad ass im coming to kill you sound
-
the miltek anni without mid box and decat toyo sport DP is pretty awesome, after getting my motor back on the road decided to treat myself with some suprise cash and got this set up new.
absolutely amazing sound when giving it the beans, real clean note with a irregular pop
also not "OMG whos that coming around the corner" loud like the 3" system, actually managed to creep up to my mates house and left the engine running whilst we were talking out side and he didnt notice the new exhaust until i wellied it out on the main road :lipsrsealed:
-
any videos of your miltek set up ^^^?
-
basically if you want a quiter exhaust get a Milltek. This is rather loud but it sounds sick under load. You can live with it, I don't batter my car so I don't think its that bad! When its cold it seems to be louder haha.
There is a lad who uploaded a few videos, I think the links are in this thread earlier on.
-
i've got a shoddy one the Missus filmed with a bit of leg action  lol (joking) the filming was done next to the A12 on a crappy blackberry, i can BM or Whatsapp it if you want?
-
did the rear box fit all right on the miltek no modding required? ill pm whatsapp
-

yeh i fitted it in less than an hour with mid exhaust rubber replaced as well. if you have the sensor after CAT you'll need a spacer. i think i spent about 460-470 on the whole set up, send us your whatsapp buddy, you may need to put it right up next to your ear and concentrate but you'll get the idea
-
Got a spacer on it now on the Jetex system and engine light comes on/off all time anyway.
-
i have a spacer fitted and not a single light so far
-
i have a spacer fitted and not a single light so far
Comes up wuth bank sensor2 lean ir resistance too high
-
which one are you using?
-
Awesome gti one angled spacer it can swivel
-
Spacers arn't really the solution lads, you MIGHT get away without an EML for a while, maybe even for a long time, but ultimately, if you've decatted an AUM / AUQ, you'll get a light on unless you have the threshold altered in the map.
AGu on the other hand, knock yourselves out, no lights for you boys :)
I'm surprised to hear people saying they're loud still, I push 350bhp of gas through mine and it's no louder than a non res miltek at all!
-
Ive heard tge 3" systems and sound alot louder than milktek both louder and completly different sound imo.
Stage 2 they can map out the eml issue cant they?
-
that's the thing dave, Mine isn't loud, at all, it sounds very similar to my old non res miltek, and not at all intrusive. very strange.
Anyone half decent at mapping can map out the EML, it doesn't have to be done as part of a 'stage 2' or anything, you can map it out on a standard car even.
-
Thats goodvto know about mapping... cheers.
-
Somewhere like R-tech or badger 5 are able to do it, I believe R-tech will even patch it into your existing map for a small fee mate.
generic st1 codes like revo and things can't do it though, only the people who actually write maps can do it for you :)
I had mine mapped out on a stock car before I even decatted it, knowing that I would do soon.
-
Got a generic stage 1 but dying to sort stage 2 just wonderedcif can get away with a stage 2 then fit fmic later in year..... surley it will make the power just not hold the power due to heat?
-
no, fmic is an absolute MUST for st2. Without an intercooler, what is it? just a stage 1 with too much boost and lots of heat?
nasty nasty. With inlet temps silly high from the stock SMIC the timing could never be optimised to see it's potential anyway, as even 1 single pull would have IAT's too high for the kind of timing a st2 map would typically run.
do it once and do it right mate :)

admittedly mines been in since end of may and no codes or lights etc. maybe one of the luck ones so far, may only go stage 1 on rtech as im not a power chaser but its nice to have if needed :lipsrsealed:
what would i be looking at for a garret28 if i were to go that way? out of curiousity obviously

-
I watched Dan turn the rear Lambda off on my mates mk4 AUM,
He just changed the setting from 1 to 0 so that it read 'OK' constantly
-
^^^ can this be done with vag com?
-
no mate it's a setting in the map so needs to be done by someone who can access it
-
cheers wazzer it can wait my nice yellow light then untill next year no point untill i get FMIC and then down to rtech for stage 2 map. i want flames too!! nick said he will try lol
