Title: Fitting Bora Sport Clocks into MK4 Golf
Post by: Gaz W on 04 February 2013, 11:01
Hi Guys,

I've picked up a set of Bora Sport Clocks, and don't think I have the SKC (secret key code) for them (or at least I think!?).

I have a guide on how to do it, however I need to know here would I find the SKC for the new clocks? I have VCDS/Vagcom and VAG tacho.

Thanks

Gaz

Are your current clocks Bosch or VDO?

I didnt want to start a new thread seeing as this is exactly what I need to do. Does anyone around the dartford area code these in and how much I'm looking at roughly ?

And I may aswell tell yous about my bargain buy at the scrappy which was bora vents and clocks and new drivers handle all for 15 quid to say I was happy is an understatement lol

Cheers

Can you post a photo of the part number sticker here?

Depending on who manufactured them you can retrieve the SKC. It also depends on what immo version your car is wrt also needing other codes and new transponders.

They are immo3 clocks, good news is they will work on immo2 and immo3 cars.
Other bit of good news is that they are ones made by VDO, so SKC can be retrieved via OBD. I can do this but am nowhere near you and don't have jobs near Dartford for a while.

Do you know what you have in your car at the moment?
If you have an immo3 car then you will also need to know PIN of that car and also you will need new transponders.

New transponders? I've never had to use anything new for immo3 to immo3 clock swaps

Depends what you use.... did you copy immo id from one cluster to the other?

I fitted bora sport clocks. No idea how i got em to work. As didnt have anybof the codes from the car they were from. I Plugged em  in iirc recoded them with details of my own clocks. Only thing that doesnt work right was my traction control light osnt in same place as originals and doesnt light up now when wheels skid or turn the traction control off. 😕😕

No I only re wrote the SKC from the existing cluster/ECU to the cluster being fitted to the car as per the guide on ukmkivs and ross-tech

I use VAG TACHO for the SKC extraction and mileage correction then VCDS for the SKC swap

Nice one   I might just go on a few of the mk4 forums on FB and see if there's anyone local that could do it

Have a look at VCDS user map (on vw/audi forum).
As I said might go and see a mate in Essex.... if I do I can stop over to swap your cluster.

Vagwerkes are only up the road from you in Romford, they coded in and tweaked (miles to empty, lit needles, welcome message) my full FIS Bora Sport / Anniversary clocks.
£40 and about 30minutes chatting on Rams driveway whilst he did the work.

Hi all gr8 thread,
New to the forum and tbh, joined for this thread really. Ok my question:
May of already been answered but can't quite grasp what I need to know..
Anyway. I have a 1999 golf 1.8t,
The Mfa (fis) has gone funny so took the bora sport clocks from my 2002 bora.

Now can I put the bora clocks in the golf?
Both made by VDO and both have 920 in the serial number meaning both can-bus so can I swap?

Many thanks
Hope I can help in future, done a fair few conversions and have loads of parts laying around that I need to clear. Lol

Yeah swap can be done but will need immo coding to car. Where in the country are you?

Yeah swap can be done but will need immo coding to car. Where in the country are you?

I'm in Chigwell near Romford.
I see the post about vagwerkes who just happens to be my pals brother and his mate. But they telling me it can't be done. ( they just want my clocks) any not far from there but they can't do it.

Do I need the SKC?

Did they say why they can't swap them?

Do you have full part numbers for both, if the old ones were immo3 and they newer ones immo2 then it would not be possible, but as the replacements are newer that should not be an issue.

Only thing is that you may need new transponders.

You will need the SKC to code the bora speedo to the car. This can be retrieved with the right tools, done that a few times in the past.

Said can't be done because the golf is too old. I know that's nonsense.

Both clusters are can-bus as both have 920 in the part number and both are made by VDO. Golf is a 1999 1.8t and the bora is a 2002 1.6se (although I converted it to the Cupra AUQ engine)

I can do it for you but am at the other end of country!
You could send your speedo to me and I can get you SKC extracted, then you can match it to your 98 car with VCDS lite.
