Title: ABS problems
Post by: madmanmart on 02 February 2013, 20:22
Right my GTI has developed a ABS Fault and its not one that I'm aware of.

The ABS light is on, ive plugged in and it comes up with no response from controller.

I checked all fuses and all are fine, I swapped the ABS relay and that made no difference.

Anyone encounted this problem before?

A new ABS ECU is £780+ Vat

Check your controller/ecu  is plugged in properly, other than that it will be 780 + vat

Did you not say in another thread, that you have a replacement?

Make sure you are getting voltage to the right pins on the plug. if thats ok, looks like an ecu fault.

40k or 140k makes no difference. There's still heat and water under the bonnet which will affect the ecu.

Right ok, I will have a look.

If I bought a second hand unit and just plugged it in next to the current unit, it could rule of any power or wiring faults?

That will work if you had the space. I know the ecu fits in the space but doubt the whole thing with pump will.

The thing is. It very likely that the replacement is faulty too.

I don't have the ecu code and it won't show up on vdcs as its not responding.

I have the pump code of 1H2 614 217 B
