Hi Guys,
I got curious during an afternoon off work so took my car to a rolling road.
Car is completely stock.
Got 245 BHP and 246 lbft tourque. Was quite impressed as this is a fair bit above the standard 226 BHP and 221 lbft figure!
Was running on 97 RON petrol so hopefully will be a bit better with Optimax?!
Interested to see if anyone got similar with stock edition 30/pirelli as not too sure how accurate this is :huh
I'm trying to upload the dyno image, can anyone tell me how to do this (sorry, I'm a bit thick when it comes to forums)

You need to host the picture on a website like Photobucket or Flikr and then copy the img location onto your post.
The dyno lottery plays a big part in power outputs, depending on what make of dyno you go on, how it is calibrated and what software it runs. Most stock outputs vary between spot on and 245 bhp and similar torque figures. :cool:

Autotune, they are a faily big place and seem to tune a fair few golfs. They even had another pirelli there! Not sure what that one got though!

It could possibly be that the car has been mapped before and simply put back to the tuners version of stock and not VW stock. Sometimes these versions make a little more than VW stock.

Definetely hasn't been tuned before... I bought it from the dealer still with factory warranty, 12,000 miles on the clock and I'm only the second owner. Car only has 19,000 miles now so could be that engine is just still in good shape... I hope!! :undecided:

Bloody good figures mate from stock, providing the dyno is calibrated correctly, strapped down correctly and using decent calculating software :smiley:
Get a decent map on there and you'll be busting out 280bhp for less than £350....

Haha, I know there are loads of variables... Think will probably take my reading with a pinch of salt, until I take to another rolling road. The guy said that because mine was a 'healthy' one he could give me 300-310 bhp for a £280 remap which seems pretty good.
Don't think I'm going to go down that route just yet though although it does sound very tempting :evil:

Getting my Ed30 remapped was the best money I've spent in a long time. It absolutely transformed the car, which shocked me because I loved it before. I waited a few months after buying it before i took the plunge because i thought it was unnessary to up the power, i wouldn't reset it now even if they offerred me double the cost.
My map was from Protune-ECS, £240

Yeah, take dyno figures with a pinch of salt - a stock engine shouldn't be able to produce more than the manufacturers stated power figures in this day and age, especially in the VAG range. I suspect the dyno settings need calibrating / adjusting for fwd.

Similar story with mine. Awesome GTI RR made it at 245bhp and it was a single owner from a guy in his early 60s :grin:
Serviced at Awesome but never remapped as I asked them, as I wanted them to show me the APR cruise control options if it was. The lock out on that map would be handy.
