I can't work out how it turns on/off? I pulled it off last night as it's never worked, there's a sort of pendulum on it, but I can't see how it connects and disconnects the circuit?
-
Maybe there's a switch on the lock so when it's open circuit is complete? And all your holding is a bulb.
-
Same as the boot light
-
No I think this is it. I removed the glovebox and fitted the light and the pendulum bit is in line with the glovebox lid arm, to push it back when it closes (off I would have though).
-
the paddle part is the switch. There is a part on the glovebox lid that moves that paddle away when the lid is closed - this breaks the circuit. When you open the door the paddle springs back completing the circuit. Hope that helps

Something called electricity!

Ah right so I've got missing parts. No spring in mine, and moving the paddle doesn't break the circuit, so there must be something broken. Meh. I'll pick a spare one up at the scrapyard when I can be bothered.

Thats what I meant

Also, it will only work with the ignition on; in case you think it's not working.

Heres 2 pictures for you to see how the two ends of the spring should be located. You defo need the spring as it bridges the 2 connections for the light to come on and off via the paddle which should be located pointing straight down when you refit the light to your glove box. When you source a new spring prepare yourself for some swearing as its a pig to refit these,it looks simple in the pics but you actually have to wind the spring back around itself.(safety glasses advised) Did mine last weekend and felt quite a sense of accomplishment  :laugh:Good luck and hope this helps.

Cheers leebob. I think I'll just pick up a working unit from the scrapyard, it'll save me some blood and tears
