While trying to solve some running issues with my Mk3 GTi 16v I found a loose connector, and being a bit of a newbie I couldn't see where it should go.... I've attached a pic.
Also I checked the oil and it was a bit low, so I topped it up a bit and when I checked the dip stick againthere was nothing on it?!?!?!(http://

No image.
When you say the oil was low, how low are we talking here... Not even on the dipstick at all?

When I first checked it it was just under the cross hatching, so I topped her up and re dipped the stick, then waited a minute or so then checked and there was nothing at all?

That wn abf? Keep topping it bit by bit and leave it for 5mins. I know stupid to say but make sure your parked on a level road

Yea it;s an ABF.... I might not have given it enough time to be honest.

I think that connector goes on the plastic line from the engine breather to the inlet hose just before the throttle body, between the cam belt cover and inlet hose from the airbox.
There should be a bit there for it to pop onto.
It does nothing...so it doesn't matter if it's plugged in or not.

could be for charcoal canister?

Wire way to short to reach the charcoal canister.

Yep too short for the charcoal.
Defo going to be around the throttle area

I'm think I've already mentioned it...
There are only 3 plugs on the bit of loom that goes behind the head. The idle switch that is behind the TB, the TPS which has 3 wires, and the spare connector that goes to the plastic pipe from the crankcase breather to inlet hose.
It's not used.
I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

It is mate, i think it's for cars sold in colder climates that require some kind of pre air warming system iirc.
