hi
I've got a 89 mk2 16v which is great. however, the clutch pedal rests way too high in comparison with the other two. How can I sort this? Is it the clutch cable or what ??
-
turn the white adjuster on the clutch cable under the bonnet. ;D one way is up the other is down.
-
top man,
i'll give it a go as soon as i sober up ....
-
i bet you'll find the rubber bung/stopper is missing from the top of the clutch pedal
it was on mine
take of the underside part of the dash, its just 4 screws
then you'll see the tops of the pedal box, if there is a hole at the top of yours then the stopper is missing
to cure this i went to b&q an got a long bolt, 2xnuts
put one nut on about half way down
invert the bolt, so that the bolt head is against the clutch pedal and the nut you put on is against the back of the hole
then put the nut on the otherside of the hole and adjust accordingly until it is level with the brake pedal
once this is complete you adjust the clutch
you invert the adjuster under the bonnet

the clutch pedal has a stop and it may be this has bent over time, have a look if your careful you can bend it back.

My clutch stop is also missing and will be replaced. I cant find the clutch adjuster under my bonnet can anyone help?

I got a clutch stop today and it cost 48p from VAG. Not bad eh?
-
How do i adjust the clutch cable. Mines a 1.8 8v GTi with a black clutch part?
-
big thanks gambit, did exactly what you suggested with a bolt and a couple of nuts from b&q. Works like a dream !! Can adjust now to be exactly where I want it. Just a bit peed I didn't post the query 4 years ago!!!!

You got a manual or automatic adjusting clutch cable?
-
its the black one. It doesnt have any kind of adjuster on it so it probably is automatic
