Hey guys.
My 1.8t wouldn't start last night. But managed to get it to start eventually with the throttle fully open.
I did a scan and got the codes
17967/P1559/005465 - Throttle Body (J338): Fault in Basic Settings
http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/17967/P1559/005465 (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/17967/P1559/005465)
17973/P1565/005477 - Throttle Actuator (J338): Lower Stop not Reached
http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/17973/P1565/005477 (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/17973/P1565/005477)
The problem came on gradually I had problems starting it the last few times I used it.
Would it make sence to say the throttle body needs a clean? Is it just a matter of taking it out of the car and cleaning all the moving parts with brake cleaner, giving it a good wipe over? Or is more required? Does anyone know any good 'how tos'?
Cheers
Willis

Its drive by cable. I took the throttle body out and cleaned it well with brake cleaner. It will now start.. just about. But its struggles. I cleared all the codes and they arn't coming back up after taking it for a drive. Any more ideas?

does it just not tick over?
Possibly starter motor?

make sure you get right in the corners where the plate sits, really bad deposits can make it stick

After a couple of drives its appears to be sorted. But fingers crossed it doesn't suddenly happen again. :undecided:
