Title: Speedo drive has dropped and got lost in the box.
Post by: Benrevs on 28 January 2013, 20:54
As you can see I took the opportunity to 'spit sum barz'
Anyway my speedo drive fell off the end of the cable a few months back and more and more frequently is making itself known.  The car is off the road for a few weeks tomorrow so it is on my list.  My question is, does anyone know if I could fish it out by removing the cap on the end of the box? It sure as hell wont come back out of the hole it fell in.

Drive it, gears will mash it up, drop the gear box oil out and it will come out with that.

Then fresh box oil and you'll be good to go.

Funny you should say that...  It has been getting caught somewhere every now and again, and clunking very badly, you can feel it through the floor pan. It's also loud as fook.   It seems to hang around for a few days then bugger off until it decides to show up again.
