Getting my K03s on tomorrow, but I currently have a stage 1 carbon remap, do I need to do anything in order for it to run ok?
I cant get it mapped for at least another week, but may still need to potter around here and there in it
also from my spec, what 'should' I get from a stage 2 remap?
-
99% sure it should be ok to potter around in, doubt youde be getting max power out of it but should be fine afaik
-
do I need to unplug anything or should it be ok, can I give it the beans or best to lay off :undecided:
-
Not to sure with your main question however I have been researching "what to do" when it comes to stage 2 remaps.
The things I have found that should be done are as follows:
- clutch and flywheel.
- upgrade all pipes to silicones.
- upgrade the DV.
- upgrade injectors.
- upgrade the air filter to a higher performance panel filter or induction kit.
- advisable to upgrade the exhaust.
I'm sure there are bits I have missed. Others will add I'm sure :)
-
Whilst generally it's not advised to thrash it when a bigger turbo is fitted, in the case of a st1 AGU going from ko3 to ko3S I've generally found them to be fine.
Depending on how aggressive your st1 is you may find it misfires a bit under boost, so be careful if that's the case until it's mapped, but 9/10 times they run just fine with a ko3S bolted straight on.
-
Mines ARZ and went from k03 to k03s and ran it for a month no problems! I have an ebay3" system and standard smic and using a formula it is running aprox. 226 bhp not been on a dyno yet.
-
was your k03 mapped?
-
was your k03 mapped?
Yes r tech.
-
My old 1.8t Anniversary had the ko3s as standard as was mapped to a safe 210bhp. Only downside was the wheel spin in the damp or wet. It was shocking.
-
Well when I have my map I am hopefully looking at 225-230bhp

Pfffffft what's that?
-
well yours is no good at 0 bhp

Touché

I just had a Revo stg 1 on mine with no other mods except a carbonio cai on mine.
That's kinda the limit on the s though isn't it, 230 / 240bhp?
-
Cool when you getting it all done?
-
turbo done by tomorrow, few days ' diagnostics'
then remap next week hopefully
-
Cool willbe interesting to see what you get as my next performance mod is a fmic

The majority of k03s remaps will never see 230, let alone 240, except for a few unusual instances. For 230bhp you need all the other mods as mentioned earlier in the thread, unrated intercooler, forge valve, updated exhaust, silicone hoses etc etc.
Usable power is far more useful than bhp hunting.

Bet you can't wait!! Who's fittin it all for ya??

This is true, although most golfs will be able to use all the power a ko3s can ever throw down through the wheels anyway :)
Highest figure seen from a ko3S was 264.7bhp :)
-
These are my mods:-
Custom CAI with cold air feed
G60/VR6 clutch
2.5' longlife turbo back with 200 cell sports cat
Silicone TIP
All other pipes silicone
catch can
N249 and N112 deleted
SAI deleted
DIY Intercooler (Wellycooler)
S3/LCR inlet manifold (ported) and K04 charge pipe
K03s with Forge Actuator
Forge 007p

Good spec, should make 230bhp. 240 would be possible if everything is in REALLY good health.
a ko3S won't pass 240bhp though, unless the owner is a regular at the AA meetings, if you catch my drift
METHANOL!!!!

Im after usable power so around 225-230 would be good
I was toying with the idea of adding WMI but decided against it for the cost (for now)

We'll see soon enough

I don't think mylos 264.7bhp from a ko3s will ever be beaten. 13.7 1/4 from a full weight Leon, very rapid.
-
My k03s will beat that figure when I get it sorted
-
Hybrid I guess

Hybrid I guess
What supporting mods did he have?
-
k03s
Full exhaust
FMIC
DV
Forge actuator
Increased MAF
Increased Injectors
Increased Pump
Should see you at 260, the extra fueling is needed and actuator as the stock actuator won't stay clamped which is where the forge actuator is key.
-
Was the head worked?
-
The above spec will never make 260 without wmi.
Mylos car was a totally stock small port auq, with a very large fmic , 2.75" exhaust. Usual stage 2 spec, but also with an uprated actuator, and water meth injection running LOTS of meth.
Without wmi it was 240-245. With meth the additional timing allowed another 20bhp

63.5mm exhaust
1.8 NA camshaft
large injectors
Forge cold air intake
Forge actuator (blue spring)
Stock K03s turbo
4bar FPR
Larger MAF
FMIC
Tested on Maha dyno, 100octane fuel, 25degree advance... and it's in a polo.
Also I'm sure nick got k03s turbo around 240bhp without wmi: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=209277.60
Old news but everyone seems to forget the real potential of the k03s when its clamped shut and made to work to its limits, obviously main problems are poor exhaust manifold and natural fuelling limits of the stock setup, followed by the need to improve airflow as well as to allow a bigger maf for higher g/s readings.
-
Hybrid I guess
you know that just about got the money sorted so littco here i come :)
-
I will find my mates build thread that's over on ukmkivs. He had his 1.8t Anni running at 256bhp. It was a perfect match for my R. There was nothing in it from a rolling start. I had a slightly better top end.
His car is quick and running the same Ko3s it came with.
-
Certainly not a easy do getting over 235-240bhp with a k03s.....got to know what your doing IMHO. I had a AGU k03s run 249.5bhp on the dyno... But when you think....new plugs, new maf, new filter near enough, new coils, new N75, new actuator. VERY tough task on hardware thats seen a few miles.
-
Its running Denso Iridium IK22s
New Coilpacks (as of say 6m ago)
Filter is new ish (2 months)
actuator is new (Forge one)
MAF is roughly 1yr old
N75 has not been changed by me, this is one thing that may need replacing, but dont know until I drive it
