Title: Excessive road noise
Post by: jeffbr1 on 25 July 2005, 01:06
Hi all,

98 MKIII GTI - Really loud humming like noise when going at over 40mph, I've noticed that the noise/vibrations reduce if I slightly turn the wheel left! Is this a sign that the wheel bearings are gone?

Appreciate any comments..........

Signs do point to a bearing on its way , if its a permanent droning noise ... then it will most likely be that. Not too pricey either....

From what i remeber it was about 30 quid ish from VW for a set of rear bearings. Did mine not so long ago.
